What exactly is the nature of your job? Do you teach, supervise, etc.? I think concerns like this can be addressed to management. Health should come first because it certainly would diminish productivity if health of the constituents decline. Also, wearing shoes that won't constrict your feet would also help. I agree, wider shoes help. I also find that wearing shoes with broader heels that are less than 2 inches high diminish aches greatly. yup, don't wear high stilletos. they don't make you taller. In fact, they make your ankles contract and it also causes undue pressure on the lower spine. Your weight is also not evenly distributed. All of these could account for the aches that you feel. Best is still for you to consult a doctor especially if this has been going on for a long time. Joints sometimes ache when there are water retentions in areas that have been under pressure. It would also help if you relieve circulation pressure by putting up your feet on cushions for about an hour after work. It would help prevent varicose veins. Hope these helped.

I feel ya on this one! I work in fast food and I'm on my feet for like 4-5 hours at a time, plus I walk around college ALL DAY carrying a heavy book bag. I also happen to have arthritis in my feet.
Here's my solution:
Buy work shoes if you're working in fast food, make sure you buy a nice quality non slip shoe. Make sure it has plenty of padding in the sole and a good arch. Try the shoe on with the kind of socks you wear to work. I would reccoment thicker socks because it adds extra padding. If it's still not enough cushioning find some Dr. Scholls gel sole inserts to put into your shoes. They are wonderful!
If your feet start hurting while you're at work take a break for a couple of minutes (if you can) and have a sit. Take a couple Tylenol too. Once you get home give yourself a foot massage. I have a special foot spa kit that you can buy at Wal-Mart. I soak my feet in nice warm water and scrub'em with the foot scrub and a foot scrubby thingy (the actual name escapes me at the moment) then I dry my feet and then I rub my spcial foot lotion on my feet and give myself a foot massage. My sweetie will message my poor achin' feet for me too which REALLY helps a lot.
You might also try some kind of joint creme like Ben Gay, or Icey Hot, or Aspecreme. Slather it on your feet and let the tingly sensation start.
For the back and knees, make sure you are practicing proper posture. you might also try a Chiropractor you might be out of alignment in your back somewhere. Get it checked out as soon as possible so more problems don't develope.

I have found that if you dont lock your knees when you stand, then your whole leg pains won't intensify past the foot. Also, if you wear wider shoes, as opposed to heels or something like that, you will decrease the pressure on your feet.

Well beyond the store brand (Dr. Scholls, etc) footpads or orthotics, your next best bet is to see either your family physician who can refer you to a specialist (a podiatrist I believe) or you can look them up in the phonebook and make a few calls around. Its very possible to get custom made orthotics that will help ease your discomfort.
