There are no countries between the UK and France that could start a war. There's only water between them!

The UK and France are, both, nuclear countries. So, in an all-out nuke lobfest, the nation that struck first would likely win.

But, if this mythical war were to remain conventional, it is generally acknowledged that the military forces of the UK are second only to those of the United States (in terms of total strategic and tactical capability). In addition, while somewhat smaller in number, many military analysts will tell you that, man for man and unit for unit, the British Army, Navy, and Royal Air Force are quite possibly the best in the world.

Not too mention, England hasn't been successfully invaded since 1066. Gotta go with the Brits on this one.

Who beat the Nazi's?

France? I don't think so, the UK "liberated" france from Hitler. That shows that the UK are better than the french in military speaking. We'd send over bombers, Not saying that the UK ever would.
now, france and the UK are allies in a sort of way

Good question. Do you mean in the short term or in the long term?

Because obviously you have never read about the Hundred Years War... ?

Basically, between about 1330 and 1440, the English plundered France. The English had better military strategy and funding and a more solid government, and their military's strength was in its archers, armed with longbows. France wasn't all that solid and they had slower, less versatile crossbowmen. But the French ended up driving the English off when they acquired guns.

There cannot be war between France and UK.France now is a peace loving nation. As far as UK is considered, its economy is in shambles,it has to depend on USA for anything. It will not attempt any war.A US supported war by UK aganist France is impossible. In case of any fight ,there is no chance for UK.France will pull on more time because it is more or less self reliant with out US support.

Unfortunately, I go for France on this one. Although I don't expect them to fight, you never know with these dickheads. The UK is buying all our nukes from the USA on credit terms and I fear it will all be over before they release the secret codes. France, being smart does not trust the cowboys enough - and who blames them? - to get nukes from them.Come time, they may say "Sorry but its the 4th of July and there is no one here to take your call, if you want to leave a message please start after the bleep. Have a nice day." And by then, my fellow countrymen. its put your head between your legs and kiss your a*** goodbye! At least it will be quick.

I will answer this with a little story:

The other day, I was looking through the classifieds in my local paper, and I saw an ad for an old French rifle. It said, "World War II era French rifle, excellent condition, never fired, dropped once."
