1. have you seen a doctor, ....if not you should. He/She went to school for 10 years to be able to figure out your cough, so spend the 100 bucks and go ck it out.
2. A cough is a reflex and its normally a good thing. When we make mucous in our lungs from an allergen or virus/bacteria, the natural course of what your body wants to do is get it out. The act of coughing keeps the junk moving around, and therefore you have less of a chance to grow bacteria or get pneumonia. When a cough is so bad it makes you vomit, or keeps you up at night, then its not so good and your doctor may elect to suppress it at night so that you can sleep. But normally, a GOOD Doctor will let you cough because its a viral illness that you have to kill via your immune system, and the cough helps you.
3. A persistant cough, accompanied by other problematic symptoms such as night sweats, fever or difficulty breathing should always be followed by a doc. And don't think he or she is a quack because they don't solve your problem in one visit. They are just doing a good job for you. If you haven't seen someone and its been a few weeks, tomorrow is a good day to go.

hope this helps.

If you've been coughing for weeks, go to a doctor, it could be any number of things. It's possible it might be something in your environment, maybe an allergy even. But get it checked out.

Even though you dont smoke it sounds like a chest x ray is in order or at the very least, a trip to the doc. Good luck Dude, hope you feel better

My advice is to see a doctor-we out here in Yahooland don't profess to be medical professionals, and don't want you to die from whatever is ailing you due to ill advice. Call your grandmother-she always knows what to do- when I was a child she gave me honey in coffee with peppermint oil to calm my cough-not sure how well it worked, but it tasted really good.SEE A DOCTOR!!!!

You should go to your doctor and make sure that you don't have some sort of lung infection or other problem. They are the only people who might be able to give you a complete diagnosis.

no symptoms? no runny nose, low fever? if so, you may have whooping cough.

if not, it might just be a persistant, chronic cough. see a physician.
