Paganism is a earth-based religion. Pagans see the energy of God in all things, and they believe that they have a direct connection to god through those things. They celebrate holidays based on the changing seasons and the growing cycles.
Most Pagans believe in multiple Gods and Godesses, but not all. Some believe in one God. Some believe in one Goddess.
Most "christian" holidays were stolen from the Pagans and changed just slightly in order to trick more of the Pagans of the time into converting. Christmas and Easter are the two big ones, but if you do a little research you will find there are quite a few more.

Any religion that can be considered Earth-based or Reconstructionalist that isn't one of the big 5 (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism) and can't be catagorized under any of the Native American or Aboriginal spiritualities or Far Eastern philosophy-religions (Taoism, Jainism, Confusciousism, Sikhism, Shinto, etc). Religions like Wicca, Asatru, Celtic Reconstructionalism, Hellenism (Greek reconstructionalists), things of that nature, that are still mostly underground and are regarded as "New Age" by the vast majority of the public who don't understand a lot about them.

Pagans worship basically animist Gods. For instance, most monotheists are not pagan, but if they venerate things of nature or perform certain kinds of nature rituals, you may have to take a second look and see if its pagan.

There is a lot of paths but here is a few:
Druidism(Keltrian, British)
Wicca(Seax, Dianic, Eclectic,Celtic etc.)
Vodou(African, Haitan etc.)
Hellenism
Shamanism
Animism
Santeria
There is a lot more anyway. I wouldn't say they are all religions. Some is just a way of life or a way of understanding life and spiritual growth or mysticism.
(oh by the way, Anmism and Shamanism is the most ancient for of religion known to man kind)

Due to the global problems besetting our planet, I would like to request everyone to stop putting labels on religions no matter how insignificant they are. Its the labelling and name calling going on that's putting a huge wedge between religions and faiths and causing so much pain and strife to the innocents involved. Lets stop calling other religions names okay? Can we in Yahoo Answers be the examples of it?

To the believers of one religion the people who believe in another one are always pagans and heathen.
It's a WE vs. THEY thing, that creates feelings of superiority and I don't buy into it.

I consider pagans the folks who worship things like druids.
Heathens to me are folks who are too ignorant to even understand
religon, Like undiscovered tribes in the Amazon or Africa.
The other folks who aren't christian fall into the Infidel category.
But I pray for them all and hope they come to know Jesus.
