I usually use this term for someone who wants to push their version of faith down everyone's throats, regardless of how we feel about it.

Well, since I run JesusFreak.com, I'll weigh in with my two cents...
If a person who claims to be a Christian is called a Jesus Freak, they should be proud to be called that but should also be a Christian in more than just name. The love of Christ should be evident in their lives, and it should be obvious to others that there's something different about them--something wonderful but different--that others can't understand or explain away. If a Christian is totally committed to following Jesus, what will be most evident in their lives isn't their overt religiosity, but the love of Jesus in their lives. Maybe the Wikipedia article below could add a little more of a historical perspective, but I hope this helps a little.

For the 1995 album by dc Talk, see Jesus Freak. For the 1999 book by dc Talk and Voice of the Martyrs, see Jesus Freaks (book). For the 1995 song by dc Talk, see Jesus Freak (song).
A Jesus freak is a Christian passionate in his or her love for Jesus.
The phrase Jesus freak was originally a derogatory term applied to those involved in the Jesus movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The term came into existence within the context of the freak scene of that era. However, many now consider it a reclaimed word, as Christians, especially Christian youth, occasionally use it today as a positive term to let others know that they are not ashamed of their belief in Jesus. At first, the term was used only in reference to members of the Jesus movement, but it has since found wide usage outside of that scene. Secularists still sometimes level Jesus freak as a derogatory epithet against Christians in general.
Perhaps its most well-known usage was in the lyrics of Elton John's song "Tiny Dancer" ("Jesus freaks, out in the street, handing out tickets to God," referring to gospel tracts), but it has also appeared in Felt's 1986 single "Ballad of the Band". The term has recently been used frequently by Howard Stern and Ted Turner. "Jesus Freak" also appeared as the title of the 1995 album by dc Talk. 'Jesus Freaks' is also the name of a German youth movement that started in Hamburg in 1991.

Back in the 70's, they could not discuss any basis for their 'far out' faith I guess you'd call it.
The ones I knew then did read the Bible, but could not get heavy in any discussion about the Kingdom or Jesus prehuman life.
The ones I knew generally did not work, and you might say, was unkempt.

A term that was made up by unbelievers to describe a born again christian.
It is supposed to be derogatory.
A person that uses this term against a born again christian is supposedly saying that the christian person is a freak or crazy.

I take it to mean someone that no matter what you say some how directs it to Jesus-God-Religion-A Bible Verse-or the Devil.
It makes you afraid to say anything at all because you're going to get a sermon.
Sometimes pancakes are good just because.

It's reffering to the fact that they take worship to a new level.
It becomes, or appears, to others as an obession to Jesus and Christianity in general.
