I would go with the FJ cruiser. Toyota is well known for their reliability of their products as well as the fuel economy of the vehicles they build. As for the H3, it isn't even a true Hummer in my book; just a GM chassis with Hummer body work bolted on (just like the H2). Hummers are notorious fuel guzzlers. If I were to choose a Hummer, it would be the original.......the military version H1.

GO with the FJ cruiser - it has true off road abilities. THe downfall to them is the 91 gas it requires for the 4.0L V6. The hummer sucks the same amount of gas with a smaller less powerful engine and is based on the the Current small gmc and chevy trucks.

get the back up sensors the FJ has no visibility to the rear backing over your neighbors kid NOT FUN! It has been my experience in over thirty years working on cars they all Have good points and bad points. Hummer H3 is dangerous not enough power to get out of it's own way much less with people and gear. Look at the 265 HP 4.0L Xterra?

NONE
The Hummer H3 & the H2 are the worst looking cars ever made in the world.
Just Imagine the nasty boxy shape of one of them sitting in your neighbourd garage blocking everybody view. Its an mayor offence.
What happen, how suddenly nice classic with great design cars like BMW could be replace with a tank for war ???
What the hell are good for ? Are we getting ready for a war ? Or the city will stop maintance in our roads ? Everywhere ?
The FJ is ugly too, and before you buy a piece of junk like this, try to park it parallel to the curve or change lanes in the dark and raining.
Common sence, please, if you really need to go EVERYDAY offroad get a Jeep, or a Subaru, even an Audi.

The new xterra won a road and track shootout of xterra, grand cherokee, fj, and h3. My dad bought the nissan and loves it but I think my 99 cherokee is just as good or better offroad and 1/4th the price

Like the person before me, yes the FJ would be my choice as well but the high octane needed for that 4.0 V6 is a turn off.
Seems to be a fun car otherwise.

With any used car bring someone there with a GOOD computer scanner with you. I go with people to look at used cars all the time. We usually scan the car out of the salesmens eyes ( on test ride ) but any good dealer should let you pull up any codes and hopfully they did not erase any past codes.
