About a month ago, my dog had a bad infestation of fleas. I did absolutely everything to get rid of them - swept the carpets (corners included) really good, sprinkled flea killer powder on the carpets, gave my dog a bath with flea shampoo, and bomb the house with flea bombs. I've been giving him a flea bath every week since. The last couple of days, he's been itching alot, and tonight, I saw a flea on his belly!! I'm at my wits end. Is there anything else I can do to keep those things away? I'm not too keen on using all those chemicals again so soon. Any help will be appreciated.

Please go to a veterinarian and get flea products that work. As you have found out the reason we don't sell the over the counter crap is because it is crap! I would recommend getting Revolution, Advantage, Frontline, or Advantix along with a Capstar. The capstar kills adult fleas within 30min to 1 hr. but only last 1 day. The other products mentioned work for a whole month, and they do work!
P.s. stay away from the homeopathic stuff, because some of it is dangerous to humans.

it soundsl ike your taking all the right steps but what you have to remember is that flea eggs hatch about every 2 weeks so 1 month really isnt sufficent time to rid a whole house & dog of fleas, it sounds like you have flea eggs in the house, you will need to bomb again & Id get your pooch on Frontlien Or Advantage theses products kill the fleas but also make them sterile & Im not sure but i think the y kill eggs too, you only have to apply it once a month & they work great!! Check w your vet for a reccommendation I use Advantage because there is no danger of ticks really for my pug so the extra chemical to repell ticks I dont feel is neccessary & Like you said all the chemicals really arent my cup of tea either......you could also try sprinkling Boraxx around the perimiter of your house this is known to help w flea problems......keep your chin up your on your way to being flea free but a infestation takes TIME @ persistance!! BEST OF LUCK!!

Also, try treating the house and ANYWHERE the dog lays - if he goes in the car, treat the car; if in the garage, treat the garage....wash what can be washed, spray what can be sprayed, bomb carefully what you can bomb - maybe try using a different brand of spray/bomb? Frontline or Advantage works great, too. Ask your vet for advice - they are really good at helping and believe me, they've probably heard stories worse than yours! (I have a sis who is a vet....) If you have other pets, treat them. If someone who visits has pets and/or a flea problem, or if you visit a friend who has a flea problem, they can be transferred to your place from that. Definitely, treat the yard, too! : ) Especially where the dog goes potty, or exercises. I got rid of carpet for reasons like that, you can get rid of fleas easier without it, and any other pet messes are easier to clean up AND if anyone has asthma or breathing problems, it's better for YOU!!! A throw rug you can throw away if it gets too dirty or gross without the cost of carpet. Good luck! OH!! I almost forgot - throw away the vacuum bag after vacuuming up after fleas. They breed in there if you don't...it's gross. Good luck!

I get Sentinal from the vet. It prevents fleas, ticks and heartworm. It's a tablet they take once a month. The fleas bite the dog, but then die. So the cycle ends. Keep vacuuming every day. If you can't get them out of the house, then call an exterminator. I've NEVER found bombs to work, they're a complete waste of time.

I use Advantage on my dog and two cats. Also, you can get some Capstar from your Vet or a supply house. They kill fleas within an hour of taking the pill, and keep on killing for about 24 hours. They are safe for puppies, kittens and grown animals, and can be taken every day if necessary, until you have the flea population under control. These pills are great!

we put a bit or Tea Tree Oil into our dogs best shampoo. also not bad for when kiddos go back to school in our own shampoos. This will keep away a bundle of fleas. Flea bow the house, sprits hthe beds and such.. About half a teaspoon of this should do fine.

Get a professional flea medication from your vet. I use advantage on my cats and dog and have had no problems since. Its a little pricey but its worth it to get it under control. its a monthly medication but in the summer months you definitely need it! I also bomb my place once a year like around april when flea season starts.

Get a flea collar. Give the pooch a bath, put the collar on and then bomb the house the same day. Make sure the pooch is out. That way, you get rid of all of them at the same time.

My dog kept getting fleas real bad. I ordered the k9 Advantix from 1800petmeds.com and he hasn't had a problem since. You only have to use it once a month and it stops the fleas from biting the dog in minutes. It's the best!

Topical flea medication such as Frontline or Advantage. Ask your vet for it.
