I have 5 others in the litter and none of them have this problem. I gave him a bath and flushed out his eyes. I used a pen light and do not see any scratches on either of his eyes. I dont believe this is an eye problem but rather a eyelid problem. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow but I thought I would see if anyone knew what it could be. As far as I can tell his eyelid is not turned in as it would be if he had the common eye problem for his breed, entropion. I am at a loss. I have never seen this before.

I think the most common potential things were covered, but don't rule out distemper. I'm aware of several recent and unrelated cases where forum members (about working dogs, farm dogs) located in different parts of the country detailed that only one puppy in the litter developed snotty eyes or nose & no other overt symptoms -- Mild enough, it wasn't thought to be serious.

Puppy would be placed into its new home, and be brought to the vet for routine exam. Treatment of snot (bacti approach) or symptoms would begin. Within the next week or three after no progress but increasing symptoms like loss of appetite, persistent or worsening listlessness, chest congestion, etc, the puppy turns out to have distemper!

Diagnosis would be made too late and the puppy dies. :(
This is viral so all the routine treatments for snotty eyes or nose only served to allow the virus more lead time to take over the puppy.

Follow your original plan and take it to the vet. Keep a close on on the other dogs too!

could be ectropion. where eyelids turn in toward the eye causing hair to touch the eye causing pain. or heaven forbid, distemper.starts with mucus in the eyes and nose.

dystichia (abnormal eye hair growth), conjunctivitis, uveatitis, and a corneal ulcer are on the top of my list.
