Your question contradicts itself....... you say you've found the light, and then ask if it's the right choice. You're still not sure, and that's ok. Don't be too quick to choose just yet, keep reading, studying, searching, asking. I've found the best way to know what's truth for me, is to read everything I can from ALL sides, for and against, and then decide what's going to work for me, Keep an open mind and don't close off the possibility. If you were sure, you wouldn't have asked this question. Don't limit yourself to just christianity either, investigate other beliefs, such as Islam, Hindu, Native American, and more, as well as atheism, and this could take a lifetime. You don't have to put yourself in any kind of labeled box.

Oh my goodness. Did you test the spirit. I believe you have seen a light, but I don't think it was THE light. Satan is a great impostor and very smooth talker. I believe you have seen his light and therefore I pray someday soon you will see the True Light.
Don't base your decisions on the "churches" and a form of godliness. Please base it on the Lord God Creator of this universe. The Bible does not always seem to make sense, but if you have the perseverance to hang in there and actually do a deep study, you will find it makes perfect sense.
Just remember, much of the Bible was written so that it cannot be read like a storybook. It is more like a treasure hunt in that you have to search it thoroughly to get the full message. (and no I don't claim to have a full understanding or it either., but it is so intense to get into a good study.

I think that you need to carefully consider what it is that you don't believe in. Is It God or is it religion?
Have you considered the possibility that Religion is a lie made up about God?
I agree that most of what religion tells us about God is nonsense, but just because lies are told about something does not mean that It can't exist.
If I told you that at 3am earth worms turn into dragons that carry people of to a place called hell it would not preclude the possibility of the existence of worms.
It would just be proof that I am a liar, not that worms did not exist.
Think about it.

Atheism is defined as the lack of belief in gods. The fact you realize gods don't exist is kind of like realizing leprechauns don't exist. It is only a tiny part of the search for truth, but rejection of obvious fairytales is a good place to start.

from my experience (atheists friends) the atheists don't really care about religions, just live their life according to their own ideas...
someone behaving like you seems to be rather one of two:
bored teenager
the one desperately searching for the true and for someone who could prove you that He exist...
so, ask yourself who do you really are

That depends what kind of God you're not believing in. I have to say not everyone who believes in God believes in eternal damnation for non believers. I hope you find the truth.
