Don't get pissed with me for asking this question... I'm just curious as to peoples' different opinions...

Why is it that, whenever somethng good happens in our lives, we thank God and praise His name and give him so much credit for it- and yet, whenever something BAD happens in our lives, we go on to say that it's not God's and yada, yada, yada.

It seems kind of one-sided to give him credit for everything good that happens while saying that, due to the free-will of human nature, he can't be held responsible for any bad things.

If outcomes are due to the free will of human nature, shouldn't we be applying the same blame to ourselves for good behaviour as we do for bad?

RE: This question being asked before

Sometimes it's hard to find other peoples' questions on this (and other) topics due to round-about titles, differing time-zones etc.

To find the 'same question' that someone asked an hour ago on here isn't that easy and I could easily end up going on a wild goose chase searching for an answer to my question that may not be there- it's easier to just ask the question.

Those that have an answer can feel free to offer one, those who don't have anything to say on the topic can just click off the screen- it isn't harming anyone to have a similar question asked more than once- I've answered the same questions many times before- it's a big website and hard to keep track.

Read the Bible and you will come across a scripture that says, "All things work together for the Glory of God". Good things and bad things are like the rain, it falls on everyone the same. We are supposed to thank God in all things because we do not know their purpose or why they happen. It could be they happen for correction and discipline. There is no good or bad God. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Because Gods plan is to prosper us not to harm us. Everything that is good in the world comes from God. Because we live in a fallen world bad things happen, and we make wrong choices. There are consequences and those are usally negative therefor not from God. If we lived in the perfect world that he created before Adam and Eve sinned bad things would never happen.

Everything that happens in life has a number of causes, with the top ones being your individual choice , the choice of others,
natural disasters...

What you do- impacts you and probably others around you. (smoke, get cancer. Drink, kill someone in a car crash and hurt yourself, choose to use your Visa and debt collectors call everyday...vote for a certain president...whatever it may be)

What others do -impacts them and may affect you.
(drunks driving, a drug addict robs you on the street, the choices your 'superiors' make, etc.)

Natural disasters- under no one persons control. God made things to work, he created the universe and its contents once- he doesn't keep spinning the earth on its axis or re-create the sun/moon/gravity/trees/man -every day. He made it to work a certain way, laws of gravity and etc... He put the 'seed within itself' and they work.

So yes, free will in most cases. If something happened, look at the source first, look around you, you may even need to look in the mirror...before asking why and who do I blame or congratulate or thank.

To me it is what is referred to in pagan circles as 'rainbows and light' mentality. It is a childish way of trying to make everything good and wonderful and sweep everything ugly and hurtful under the rug to be ignored. To get past it takes inner strength, study and thought. Unfortunately, too many would rather take the easy path than learn to move beyond it. Accepting darkness within ourselves is not an easy task to do.

Oh my! God supplies us free will and likely He does comprehend our lives from the starting up. notwithstanding, once you grow to be a christian and function requested God into you existence, you're always kept. in case you chosen later to expose from God, that doesn't recommend you'll hell, it basically means you'll favor to respond to for those products once you get "domicile"! so some distance as God being a "undesirable God".... Ummmm no! desire this helps. advantages, Terri

That is a good point...I think you are on the right track....Not that God is mean, but sometimes you have to prune the bush so it can produce more fruit next season....The pruning is not pleasurable, but it is so necessary.

Good point.

I personally believe that if people gave credit to people for the good things they do instead of credit to God, more people would do good things.

I'm not particularly warm and fuzzy when someone takes my good graces and efforts on their behalf and 'thanks God' for it; I have a sudden feeling of wanting to dump them in the nearest lake (it's Lake Elizabeth).
