It really depends on what would you like to introduce yourself to. If you are looking at easy-reading, inspirational titles you can read 'Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul'. If you are into Ancient Egyptian, you should try the 'Ramses' saga by Christian Jaqc (it's a series of 5 books). If you like pre-historic fiction you can read the 'Earth's Children' saga by Jean M. Auel (also a series of 5 books) or, for Asian Literature, try anything by Amy Tan.
Enjoy!

De Vinci Code, anything with action, mystery, and detective stuff, books that are about teenagers, books that are thought provoking, and make you see things in a different light.
