Man, for me the one that I don't know but in my opinion Japanese
However, in the long run, English will be the only language spoken by humans. In a few hundred years time.

Hey u want anohter one: malayalam: language of india, quite hard because of some insanely long words such as thalayolli, and so many syllables. Hey, u may not wanna say that word outloud: it's equivalent ot something quite bad in english. Hope this helps.

From friends and students that I have had over the years it would be my belief that Mandrin Chinese is harder to learn - especially when it comes to reading - because it is even more alien in its nature of how the western world writes and uses languages.

Since you are a speaker of American English, there are two factors. If you don't have a problem with the tones, Chinese will be easier to learn since its sentence structure is more like English. If you have a problem with the tones, then Japanese will be easier to learn since its sound system will be more like English. Neither writing system will be easy to learn, I'm only talking about speaking the language.

To be honest French is probably the hardest. Why? you might say . well for grammatical reasons for pronounciation and "orthographe". There are letters you dont pronounce and must have the right accent. French is way harder than spanish and german. French is a pretty language spoken in all 5 continents (south america,"french guinea") (North america, "quebec" region of canada")(Europe, "Switzerland, france, belgium, luxembourg, corsica, monaco) (Africa, "Algeria, morroco, tunisia, congo, ivory coast, senegal, cameroon, chad, Niger) (Asia, "Vietnam, Cambodia, Loas") (islands, "haiti, guadaloupe, tahiti, reunion, corsica, mauritius, martinique, ) and of course in louisiana. So learn french cuz they speak it everywhere compared to spanish where its only in the continent of the Americas (north and south) and Spain that it. No spanish in Asia or Africa, and barely europe cuz they all learning English followed by french. so there you have it

I'm thinking Mandarin/Chinese if more difficult. I'd like to learn Chinese myself. It may take time, but after all, all things are possible right? Good luck!

Chinese or Japanese are difficult to learn 'cause they use charactors like pictures instead of english letters.

I think both of those are really close to the hardest languages to learn (after English). I'd stick to Spanish if I were you.

Mandarin is tougher as some sounds are not used in the English language and require a lot of prounication practice.
