That depends on the couple, I just found out that my Eng. Teacher from 11th grade(last year) went out with his gf for 5 years and they barely got married this June, then my friend got married after dating only 8 months(he is 17)---what a moron,
anyway a person can wait until they reach their breaking point, you might run out of patience or you could wait, but im thinking that maybe 5 years is about the most that should be in waiting

It depends on how young the people in the relationship are. If I were over the age of 25... I think 3 years would be my cut off point, because the clock is ticking. If I were under 25 I'd just chill, have fun, and enjoy my youth

well, if you love them, and want to stay with them, then why should it really matter. It took my ex 4 years to propose to me. maybe he is just scared right now. If he loves you and is devoted to you, and you want to be with him, then how ever long it takes you should wait...
