You can't go wrong by bringing them. It will give you a chance to make sure that you have the right ones (in case there is a change to a new edition that you don't know about). You also might have to do a reading assignment from them and could do it from the books in your spare time if you have them with you.

i take a folder full of loose lined paper. Mark the class your in and take all the notes. Chances are they dont do text books first day anywho. If they do share with a friend. I think convert my loose note taking into that classes book as a good copy for the beginning

yes if you bought them already. also take a pen and a notebook bacause the profs start lecturing right away. I would also bring a folder for the class because the profs pass out a syllabus the first day. This is a map of due dates for essays and tests and stuff for the whole semester and a lot of times the profs don't ever mention the due dates again untill like the day before it is due. SO DONT LOOSE YOUR SYLLABUS!! Good luck and have fun :)

Usually the first day is about orientation, and proper class is not started immediately. I suggest that during the first few days, you should always bring with you a friendly smile and friendly demeanor. You should be more concerned about making new friends and establishing new networks of colleagues.

Also, you can bring your books just in case. (:

You will need to bring your text books and a notebook or paper to write notes on, unless you have a laptop that you can use for taking notes.

Yes. Take them. Sometime instructors do want you to have them. You'll look stupid if everyone breaks out with their books and you're sitting there without.
