The overall value that you receive from ANY 12 step program, is finding yourself. In the terrible disease of addiction, (any) people lose themselves, and the addiction precedes everything that they do. If you or anybody you know needs help, please- find a meeting and just listen.

I have not but I attended a seminar last week and the attorney speaking in one of the sessions was a recovering alcoholic with six years sobriety and he told us he was in AA. It seemed to work well for him! He is a practicing attorney and gave an excellent lecture. Very humorous!

Someone close to me has been in it for years and sober ever since. However, like any program of that nature, you have to want it to work. If your heart isn't in it you are wasting your time. It is a 12 step program that is...dare I say it around a bunch of libtards....spiritual. It does not advocate one religion, but it is religious in nature. Hope I helped.

My brother was an alcoholic and was forced to go, so I really shouldn't tell you this. He said that A.A. and N.A. glorified using drugs and alcohol. He said that people talked about using and how it made him want to go out and drink or start taking drugs. My only sibling, my brother is now dead. He started the night with a lot of alcohol, then turned to drugs and overdosed. Just go, please just go.
