My neighbor's daughter is having one and I wanted to get her a card. But what do I say? Congratulations on what?

Shes's Christian and she's 16 years old. I thought it was a confirmation, but the invitation said "consecration service". Her father is a pastor and they have a church.

Consecration means "to set apart." This is usually for someone entering some type of ministry, such as a pastor, missionary, nun, etc. The term is typically associated with the various catholic churches, like the Roman, Episcopal, Orthodox and Coptic churches.

Without knowing more details, I don't know what to recommend, although I would assume that the daughter is entering some type of ministry, and I would probably get a congratulatory card.

It's a scam for non-Catholics to get an extra party and gifts.
