to find out if someone likes you online (preferably) or in person... without asking them? because i really like this friend of mine, but i don't want to ask straight out because he goes to my church and my church is small, where everyone knows everything. PLEASE help!

You could ask a mutual friend. OR you could create a reason to coummunicate with him either in person or via e-mail. Maybe join the same committee or something that would require communication about some matter you are both involved in. From there, just see where the conversation takes you. If he really likes you, he'll let you know.

Just hang out with him more often. Caution!!! don't say "I LOVE YOU." A big NO NO. After three or four outing, say I like you. That's only if you feel comfortable.
