Boxing is a hard sport that teaches great hand skills, timing, balance, stance work, and combos. Having said that, it is a sport just like Olympic Judo and TKD. Put a boxer in anyone of those and what do you have? Well, you have a boxer trying to do another sport. I personally have met some martial artists that can fight but they trained to fight. If a martial artist trains to fight then they probably can. As far as kickboxers go, that is another brutal sport as is Muay Thai kick boxing. There was some discussion on MMA fights... to be a good MMA fight you have to know some submission especially sprawlings and escapes, some strikes with your hands, feet, and knee as well as how to avoid those strikes and such. In boxing you get gloves which help protect the boxer's hands...MMA they have little gloves...there is the danger of hurting your hand. Correct me if I'm wrong but a few years ago, some wrestlers laid the smack down, before that it was Brazillian jujitsu and now we have MMA... a mixture. The boxer, the Kick boxer, the Muay Thai Kickboxer, the K-1 Fighter, the MMA (Ultimate Fighter), etc. are all capable people and can do some serious damage to the the human body. I think the key is the training.
Peace.

To be honest, boxers get in UFC destroyed because good as they are, a good fighter will just stay out of their punching range and take them down with kicks. That's why a kickboxer can arguably take anyone, apart from maybe those annoying grapplers! Kickboxers have got all the ammo. Good handwork and legwork. And in UFC, you NEED that. To be honest you see no martial artists in UFC, because Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kung-Fu and all the rest are pretty useless anyway. And yes, I am a kickboxer and I know what I'm talking about.

I would've agreed with you until the UFC. Whenever pro boxers (Francois Botha, Shannon Briggs, Ray Mercer -there's three right there), compete in mixed martial arts events, they get destroyed.
