Personally I think it is a lie that religion has been the start of wars. Religion has been a good cover regardless of what religion it is. I think if one were to dig a bit deeper, they would find greed , wealth and power to be the true motivation for the actions taken that instigated the war. It just seems a lot more noble and respectable to say that the war is for a 'great cause' and in the name of the Lord - it makes you feel better about the actions you are taking to say that even if it is not Godly motivation (which most of the time it is not!). Not to say there were not true religious wars and some may have been for valid causes and worth the fight, but in the end, I truly feel the majority of so called religious wars is all about power and wealth.

I'm Christian and I think that your question is offensive. It's people like you that give our religion a bad name. Why are u trying to spread hatred when u should be trying to spread love. A question that is saying that all non christians arent intelligent is not going to draw more people to Christianity, and thats what your focus should be, not making other people feel unworthy. And if you're following what "jesus taught, and what a TRUE Christian SHOULD be" then you shouldn't be asking this question. Jesus says "judge not, lest you be judged" so don't sit around judging non christians because believe me, I'm sure you're no genius either. And by the way, I do believe that Christians have participated in the wars with the most death tolls, but most of these wars weren't based on Christianity, but on greed.

I would say that your question is an invitation to "war" on this forum .
Which "religion" has started more wars? - The question should be:
which deviating interpretatians of religions have been used to justify (= making something unjust look "just"!) reasons to attack the "others".
Most serious religions promote compassion AND forgiveness as the basis for human behaviour toward each other.
As a "Christian" you should know that Jesus does not condone hate and intolerance - not even selfdefence! Love your enemy!
Just because that doesn't seem "logical" or "practical" in "real life" does not give us the freedom to ignore His command.
So let's stop "interpreting" the scriptures. Let's search for the TRUTH. It WILL set us free. Let's stop blaming each other and eliminate or at least reduce HATE. The "religion" of HATE has started all wars.

The answer is none of the above. Reasoning below:
If a true Christian is a completely peaceful person, then there has only been a handful in history (same with most other religions-- following every single mandate is a bit impossible for the impressionable and imperfect human beings). Since there have only been a few perfect people in each religion, then the answer would be none, since none of the belief systems of the religions listed (atheists don't believe in any god, so they aren't religious, which kind of needs a higher being to believe in) actually promote violence and wars, none of them would have actually caused any wars.
However, then the majority of the people in the world wouldn't be classified as religious. And all the wars in the name of religion (the Crusades, the violence in the Middle East...), are actually caused by non-religious people, right?

Jehovah's Witnesses is off the list they are pacifist and don't fight anyone. Catholics are in pretty deep. Had to do some research on this one. Hitler was blamed for WW2 and he was a catholic so that puts them at the top of the list.
Protestants was responsible for Viet Nam war, the gulf war and the currant war. Adding all that together. then going back thru history from WW2 with the Muslims, They didn't get a really big one like the protestants but it was of such long duration and so extensive including there wars in Africa. They came out clearly the winner. Muslims to date from ww2 to the present.
Remember the bombing in Africa, USA, Kuwait and Russia, each other. Muslims have killed the most people and have killed the most of there own people than any other religion. We have a big one and then stop. Theres just never stopped. Buddhist and Hindus don't fight.

Sorry to chime in. I'm not an atheist or a Christian.
I do know that historically the Christian religion is directly responsible for an immense amount of pain, death, and anguish. I'm sure you know this. Sometimes the truth hurts (no pun intended). Just remember, you can't deny the truth simply because you don't like it.
I've no reason to leave you a string of links supporting my statement. If you have even a basic knowledge of world history you know. If you don't, you need to go back to school (I'm an insurance agent by trade, not a tutor).
If you're worried about my intelligence (in order to qualify my response), I've a 137 IQ. That's about 57 points higher than most of the Christian zealots that'll give you the response you'd like to read.

Lets start with the introduction of Christianity into Rome from Emperor Constantine, then there was the killing of those in Europe that didnt want to convert the pagans which lasted several centuries, the crusades, the numerous wars between Protestants and Catholics (both of whom are actually classed as Christians, just different factions like you get in Islam), the first 2 world wars, Vietnam, gulf war (both of them) and lets not forget the numerous persecutions that are going on all over the world done in the name of God. All these 'Christians' were and are only after one thing, power, its pure and simple as power gives control.
Islam has had its fair share of wars but in all honesty, no other religion can face up to the amount of deaths caused in the name of religion like Christanity can.

I think the issue here is not on the religion but rather on the population and common beliefs shared by the people who started the wars.
Notice this: leaders in history used religion to both "justify" their selfish causes and spread their twisted propaganda. The followers who were either too ignorant (of their faith to see through the lies) and the followers who shared the same selfish causes took up arms and fought.
Mankind will always do what is convenient for himself, including making false gods/beliefs, feeding his ego, justifying his intentions, and even stepping on other people. This is man's sinful nature - the abusive side of his God-given freedom of thought.
It just happened that Christianity is one of the more popular religions throughout history, so naturally we Christians would be more subjected to criticism. But of course, as always, "let he who has no sin cast the first stone."

I'm so sorry to intrude upon this most *exclusive* of questions. Even if I am a Christian, which is none of your business at the moment because I prefer to refrain from entertaining extremely rude people.
What a TRUE Christian exemplifies is love. God is love, Christ walked that out for the world to see.
Love is faithful, love is *KIND*, etc....Check your scriptures. What you have just said is certainly NOT kind, nor loving. It is a hateful, mean spirited, attempt to inflate your own ego.
Why don't you look in the mirror. You are casting stones without understanding the verse to Come, Let Us Reason Together.
I TRUE Christian *will* walk the walk and talk the talk. TRUE Christians will not Judge in the fashion that you are so obviously Judging, for they know that they should Judge NOT lest ye be Judged.

I am not a Christian. I am not convinced that "labels" automatically describe intelligence.
I see what you are saying here though....and that's a big part of the problem of assumptions. Some Christian religions do tend to be more about "talk the talk", as some Christians are more loving and tolerant than others. Also the same with persons of other belief systems, some of them are loving and respectful of others, some are not.
I consider myself intelligent enough????, but I don't have a label, nor do I condone war. I completely see your point though, and my answer is people start wars....not religions.

PEOPLE started most of the wars in the world. Religion was used as a tool for this purpose. Christianity can be associated with MOST of the wars accused to be religious in nature. Anyone that believes any mainstream religion was created to do such hateful things is wrong.
