I live in New York and the last few summers have been brutal. so many 90+ days with high humidity. This year was especially bad. It hit 100 degrees and it only went down to 80-85 at night for 3 days straight.

I've heard that summers in innercity Los Angeles can be quite pleasant with daytime high temperatures in the lower to mid 80's and nighttime lows in the mid 60s. Is that true?
and also is rain completely none existant in the summers?

i am a native los angeleno and i can tell you that although it is a bit cooler in downtown, it is still very hot. this year we had a few weeks of 100+ weather and that meant it was about in the 90's in downtown. yes, rain is non-existent in the summer. but, keep in mind, that unlike new york, where you can live, work and play in the innercity, l.a. is not like that. it is a very spread out city and you have to have a car to live. so even though it is slightly cooler in downtown, you probably won't spend much time there. if you want to move to l.a., look for a place on the west side, if you can afford it. santa monica is the place to live if you want pleasant weather and still be somewhat close to the city.

This is my 4th summer in Los Angeles and I have seen 5 minutes of rain. Total. All four summers. In the valley it gets really hot (90-100), but with almost zero humidity, it's not bad. The nearer to the coast you get, the cooler it is, but there is more humidity. Still, it's never been any where near as bad as it was when I lived in Cleveland. The nights here do get much cooler, even into the high 50s at times. It starts getting dark around 7:30 or 8, so the nights are really nice. Winter is even better. I love LA around February.

LA has seen some triple digit heat this summer. In part of LA, there were 100+ temps for 3 straight weeks. It can also get quite humid. This summer, there were a few days of rain, but not much. There is usually very little to no summer rain. It really depends where you are in Los Angeles. The valleys get scorching, the city can be pretty intolerable, the beaches are more comfortable.

It depends on what part of LA you are in. If you go to the inland parts of LA(Van Nuys, San Fernando Valley) the temperatures can go into the 90's and 100's although the heat is drier then Ney York's heat. If you go to the coastal areas the temperatures are in the low to mid 80's during the daytime because of breezes from the Pacific. It has to do with geography.

Valley areas can see triple digit heat in the dead of summer here in LA. But that is minus humidity it's a dry heat. For the most part the weather is mild here. Closer you are to the coast, the cooler it will get in summer heat days, marine layer etc.
Generally it doesn't rain in the summer but we do have out El Nino mudslide years in the winter now and then.

70-80 every day. Every day starts with a slight fog, then turns into the most gorgeous summer day you have ever seen
