First, it is up to your decision to drink alcohol in moderation or smoke tobacco in moderation. I'm not promoting it. But.............

1st question. Wine was NOT fermented???? Just look at the bible. Jesus turned the water into wine. Oh ya, they were just enjoying the grape juice. Uh huh.
Real grape juice ferments very quickly. As someone else wise said in my last question.

Smoking and drinking are defiling the temple?
Then don't hang out with anyone that really loads themsleves up with sugar and junk. That's apparently okay but smoking tobacco in and drinking wine in moderation isn't???? Especially a healthy individual??

What is wrong with having a glass of wine compared to having a slice of sugary apple pie on occassion?

To me this seems more like a tradition that something God wrote in the Bible.

Hey. Smoking and Drinking is defiling the Temple? lmao

Where did you hear this? You had to hear it, you sure didn't read it in the Holy Bible.

Whoever told you this. Get chapter and verse. this could be neat. Actually, I'm very familiar with the said verses. I believe you will find out, this is another case of knowing how to read a verse and have no idea what it means.

BTW: You mentioned Grape Juice. You know what? It wasn't Grape juice. What was it? grape Jelly. hellooooo.

Yes. a fermented grape gelatin. When Jesus turned water into wine He did 2 things, not one. he took water and turned grape gelatin into a wine liquid. This made it all the more miraculous.

Your body is what? a "spiritual" temple. physical temples like structures went out. Your body is not a building. It is a spiritual temple. You are not to tear down what? Your spiritual faith. That means ZERO about your physical body. Your body is going to die and rot. period. It is impossible not to tear it down in the age process alone. That is explicitly telling you not to defile(tear down) your faith, by eating something in abundance and making it more important than God. Any thing you put before God, is "defiling" the temple. That is not limited to just food.

It is interesting how people are saying alcohol is a drug. lol well, 29% of Medicine is caffine based and/or sugar based. hello?? You go to the Pharmacy and buy a bag of Glucose. You won't. It is a drug. Sugar Water.

Is milk, cream, cheese, a drug? There are drugs that contain all 3. What I'm saying is this:
There is NOTHING, you eat or drink, that is defiling the temple. period. I'm not promoting alcohol in anyway, in fact, I would discourage it, only because I have seen the end results too many times. However, I have seen just as many bad results with caffine addiction. NOBODY, will EVER tell me alcohol is not ok. READ 2 Tim. The instructions for Elders. Elders are to drink a little wine too sooth they're body.
This jumping on a bandwagon preaching crap that is a lie and not truth is getting old. You are to be told TRUTH, it is up to you to handle TRUTH in the right mode.

I don't agree with smoking being totally acceptable and I just answered your other related question but I thought I'd elaborate on the fermentation. Wine was in fact fermented. Wine was wine, it's not the grape juice that baptists want to promote. Actually, as strange as it sounds, grape juice as we know it today was not invented until the late 1800's as an alternative to wine. What alot of people don't realize is that a little alcohol is actually good for you. The alcohol thins the blood and can help prevent heart disease, plus wine and dark beer is loaded with antioxidants, which have tons of health benefits. The problem is when you start getting drunk and hurting yourself and others.

Hm. I am Baptist in belief for the most part, and I have problems with this issue too. The non-fermented wine thing sounds like a cop-out. The verse in the bible about putting new wine in old wineskins would have NO significance if the bible were talking about unfermented grape juice, as you wouldn't have to worry about the wine eroding the old skin, etc. There are many verses which refer to fermented wine, and the effects of taking TOO MUCH of it. I personally think that the gist of it is to be moderate and not get "drunk on much wine, which is excess." That would also hold for everything else in life which holds first place over Jesus, be it food, sex, vanity or anything else. Of course if your habits would discourage someone else, then you should at least abstain in their presence, but that's another issue.

Hey I'm not a Southern Baptist, but can I try to answer? I don't believe wine was used because the wedding in Cana was very close to the Passover celebration. The Jews used to get rid of all the yeast in the house, they weren't allowed to use yeast during the week. The house had to be completely cleaned and free from yeast. You need yeast to make wine. Juice ferments but it doesn't become wine, it rots. But that is up to you to decide. For myself that is not a gray area. The temple talked about is your body. Nicotine is a drug. You can be addicted to it. Smoking is known to cause cancer and it is illegal to smoke around children. But again that is for you to decide. As you grow in your Christian walk, you will make decisions that change what you do and how you do it. My sister and I are both Christians. I don't drink. She does. She doesn't get drunk. But how can I tell my children not to do something I do. Many years ago my co-workers husband had a couple of beers and drove to the store the roads were icy and a dog ran out in front of him, he swerved to miss the dog and hit an older couple walking. Killing the woman. He wasn't drunk, but he was arrested and is still going through a lenghty trial. They are not Christians, they are Catholics. Catholics buy beer for their parish on gambling nights.
I drink coffee and eat apple pie, but you don't get arrested for doing those things, just fat. It really is up to you, but like I said as you grow, you will change.

human beings choose jobs and to be secure from terrorist assaults they do no longer care who gets audited with the help of the IRS. Few human beings have any sympathy for people who get political welfare and tax breaks on an analogous time as maximum persons are taxed to dying in this united states of america. next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, we would desire to continuously all report a 501 C-4 sort and declare we are a political company which prevents the IRS from auditing us. it would be a suited thank you to laundry funds.

You might want to research tobacco. The surgeon general lists it as the #3 fatal addictive drug in America. Look it up.

I am sorry, but I will not argue with you. Our pastor tonight told us we were to be calm and moderate when talking to people like you, so therefore, I cannot respond. But, don't let this message keep you from ruining your body and going to hell. By the way, I am a recovered alcoholic and diabetic, so I will have to pass on the apple pie, but thanks anyway.
