The Fall is a good time to avoid the crowds -- it is easier to get good Broadway show tickets -- + it is not too hot or too cold.

BTW - I highly recommend seeing the city from the water, especially at night. It is one of the most beautiful sights on the planet. Taking a Circle Line tour at sunset would be ideal.

Any time within a month or so before Christmas -- or even just after -- when all of the big stores have their holiday window displays set up. Most of them have these animatronic figures and very elaborate, expensive decorations. The city is enchanting at that time of year, especially if there's some snow. When you can see the huge tree decorated at Rockefeller Center and maybe go ice skating and then you can take a horse and carriage ride (hopefully in the snow), it just puts you in the holiday spirit. But honestly, I don't think there's a bad time to go to NYC. I'd go any time I had a chance.

December, definitely. The store windows are out of this world, Rockefeller Center has that amazing tree, there are all kinds of special events, and it's really romantic to go through Central Park for a winter horse-drawn carriage ride.

Only been there twice so far but I hear it's either the spring or fall. Unfortunately I went there in the summer - sweaty, muggy, urine and garbage smells everywhere. Then I went in the winter - freezing, freezing, freezing. The Christmas lights were pretty but I didn't enjoy it because my feet were blocks of ice and my nose about to snap off. I've lived in Southern California my whole life and I'm not used to that kind of cold. Now, if you're from say...Chicago or Minnesota, a NYC winter will probably be balmy to you.

I personally love the city in the Fall & Winter but it depends on whether or not you want to deal with certain weather conditions or crowds or certain seasonal activities that you want to participate in.

Any time. I always wanted to go around Christmas to see the Rockets and experience those streets during the holidays, but never made it yet.

It's beautiful there during the month of December. The lights are great, and the weather is usually not too bad.
