Do you have a Whole Food's grocery store near you! they have bins of different stuff, that you can put in your granola. They start with a bin of big clusters and then you add what you desire. That is what I do.

You are probably not using enough honey/brown sugar and, or liquid. You need that for the yummy 'clusters', then you need to bake it on low for long enough (stirring it often) so that moisture dries out, thus leaving it crunchy and in chunks. If you need a great recipe, write me and I'll be happy to pass it on. I made mine almost weekly for many years, when my kids were little and we were on a tight budget...Last Christmas, my son asked me to make him a batch for his birthday. I guess he had some good childhood memories, after all!

This recipe always turns out pretty crunchy
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups quick cooking oats
1/2 cup chopped peanuts
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons warm water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
In a large bowl, combine oats, peanuts, and wheat germ.
In a separate bowl, combine honey, brown sugar, vegetable oil, water, salt, and vanilla. Stir well; then pour into the oat mixture, and stir. Spread out on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from oven, and cool before serving.

honey is a great natural sugar that does not have high fructose corn syrup and is a good bonding agent that also gives the granola a nice crunch when it finishes cooking.
