No, it isn't, unless you weigh about 300 pounds and need to lose a huge amount of weight. A loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week is a reasonable amount after the first week or two, depending upon how much you need to lose.

It sounds like you lost some water weight. When people begin a diet they often drop a large amount of weight quickly - it's water weight. After that the real weight (i.e., fat) comes off, but much more slowly. It's not healthy to lose so much in a week anyways. Be patient and keep at it.

It sounds like you're making a good start by cutting out the sodas and switching to diet. I've known people who've lost 50 lb simply by stopping the soda and replacing it with water or diet. Soda is just awful for a diet - it adds soooo many calories and it doesn't even fill you up.

Possible...yeah. Healthy no. It's reccomend to only lose 1-3 pounds per week. It's more likely to stay off that way.

No. You will reach a point, even with exercise, at which your body will resist further weight loss (this has to do with the set point, and is different for everybody). However, if you run 10 miles every other day or do 10 miles a day on ellipitical machines, you will lose fat rapidly. If this seems difficult, it is. It's easy to gain weight, and hard to lose it (human beings resist starving to death). But exercise can become fun - it's all in your head.

No. A pound is about 3750 calories, meaning you would have to consume 2670 calories less per day than you consume. Numerically it's possible, but there's no way you'd be able to burn calories at that rate.

it is possible, but not very healthy. 2-2.5 pounds a week is a healthy weight loss.

a lot of it could be water weight that you lost. the fact that you changed your diet so drasticly is key. but it will not continue like that. and it is recommended to only aim for losing 2lbs a week...more than that you could be starving your body of important vitamins and all that.

Most diets don't work because people don't keep at it and put the weight back. Aim for a five year program (no fooling).
