I can only speak for the way that I feel about my profession as an officer, "yes, I do enjoy my career and have done so for 20 years. Regardless of what popular belief is, there is more to "being a cop" than writing tickets and putting people in jail. There is very little more rewarding than finding an Alzheimer patient walking down the street in 30 degree weather, wearing nothing but his pajamas, and taking him someplace warm and safe. You would be amazed at how good it feels to help somebody out and leave without them owing you something. I am sure there are those officers that are in the profession for the meager benefits, and should be working someplace else, they probably are not happy campers and don't enjoy very much. Happy with the politics in law enforcement ... well that's another question.

I believe that officers begin their career loving it very much. I also believe that after time the things they see wears at them. They may not be as enthused about their job. I also believe the longer an officer is in the field the more routine the job becomes. I don't think they do the job because they hate it. It takes a strong individual to hold a position in law enforcement.

I have alot of friends that are cops, and they all seem to enjoy it for the most part. I've ridden along for many hours over the years and it's like anything else. Some times are boring, some people are disgusting. After you spend time with them and see things first hand you appreciate what they go through.

Being in law enforcement is a sick profession. If you don't like it or can't find humor in it, your stress levels will be through the roof.
I love it, if you can develop or already have a sick sense of humor, it will be good for you. You simply can't make this sh*t up.
If you can laugh and joke the majority time at work and still do an outstanding job your in the right profession.
And at parties and dinners you have the most exciting conversation pieces.

Most do, some don't, Being a cop can be a very rewarding job. You've got power, you can control people, but you must be a very well rounded person of mature thinking an attitude. Above all you must be caring an honest.

Yeah they do, they get free drugs and bribes!
haha, jk. I know someone who is a cop and overall they seemed to be pretty happy with it. We all have our good and bad days, no matter where we work. Most cops just enjoy the satisfaction of helping people, and knowing that they have made a difference in their society.

It's very similar to other occupations and careers. Some do and some don't. Officers are affected by all the same occupational satisfaction influences as anyone else.

Some of them are in the business for the right reasons.I've met many.I offer my prayers and thanks to them.I hope they do enjoy their job.
Some are in the force for the wrong reasons. Those particular cops get a thrill from making trouble for people because of past difficulties in their own lives.I've met a few. They don't need to be in ANY postion of authority.

There are some good cops, but most of them are sociopathic control freaks. They do it so they can intimidate people and feel powerful. The people that become cops are the people you knew in high school that you hoped would never get ahold of a gun, for the most part.
