When I took the Effexor it made me mad... when the dr finally found one that worked for me it just made me level.... not high from being drugged... and not so relaxed I would just sit and not give a rats rear end.... I felt better when I had a med that was "working".... things didnt bother me as much and I didnt overreact to the small stuff.. I would talk to the dr about either changing meds... or see about starting some councling.. sometimes meds arent enough... Good luck

150 mg is a pretty large dose in my opinion. I got some unpleasant side effects at 125 mg (dizziness, headaches, and nausea) so I had to back off to 100mg. What it did for me was minimize the depression "Just enough" and level out my mood swings. It also got me off the couch & doing things again. (All I wanted to do was sleep before the meds) It took 2-3 months before I saw any real changes from the meds.
For me, the benefits were slight, but enough to get me back on my feet. I haven't found anything that will make me "normal", if there is such a thing, but I've learned to avoid the things that make my depression worse, and staying busy doing something helps keep me from slipping backwards.
effexor may not work for everyone, you should consult your doctor before upping the dosage, and definitely consult the doc before reducing the dosage or stopping it completely.

Different anti-depressants act differently on different people. I was taking Effexor (I'm off it now, trying to get pregnant), which helped me feel more "normal", it kind of took the edge off my depression. Before that I was on Zoloft, which took away the highs as well as the lows, which I didn't like. Many people with depression need to try several drugs until they find the one that's right.
By the way, be careful if you go off of Effexor - I was sick for several days even though my doctor carefully weaned me off of it. Don't stop taking any anti-depressant without your doctor's supervision.

According to what the doctors always told me, the lack of -any- kind of emotion (and probably reduced cognitive function as well) while on antidepressants is normal. More likely, apathy in the patient is just more convenient for the doctor.
My suggestion -- if you're feeling nothing instead of feeling better, ask that you be given a different medication, or find an alternative to meds.

Neither truly. The anti-depressant helps you stabilize your emotions. by using increasing the levels of specific neurotransmitters interior the recommendations, the drug helps you function extra commonly. docs think of that by using the years, a depressed individual has much less of those neurotransmitters working to offer the chemical compounds interior the recommendations. you will possibly desire to no longer sense as blue once you're under pressure or something gets you down. you will possibly desire to be waiting to administration extra effective. The anti-depressant won't make each little thing extra effective on it truly is very own. yet by using having the neurotransmitters contemporary, you are able to sense extra in can charge of your thinking and emotions, and artwork by using subjects. it truly is why a lot of human beings locate talk therapy or different melancholy therapy recommendations effective. the medicine does not substitute the style you think of, it basically provides extra administration to artwork on what's getting you down.

1st you would need to see if there is really any kind of chemicial embalence to ensure that medison is nessary. Different anti depressants, have different strenghts and make you feel like you just care, anti depressants are not just a happy pill. you have to do somethings to help yourself beside the usage of AD, and you will see a big change. example would be getting more sunlight, READ in the bible, and not leave your mind to where you will dwell on the depressive things, occupy yourself, and get involved with life. Out of love i give this answer.

The best AD is talk therapy. Pills just drug you up & can damage your liver. AD's make you feel sleepy & hungry 24-7.

YOU MIGHT NEED TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. SHOULD ONLY TAKE A MONTH. YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DO YOUR DAILY THINGS WITHOUT FEELING SO SAD. NOT A HUGE CHANGE, YOU WOULD]NT WANT THAT. JUST SOMETHING TO GET YOU GOING. GOOD LUCK.
