Why are you asking? Please tell me you're not going to breed them... puggles are a mix. While they are dogs just as loveable as the next, they are still mutts. Many pet owners, dog showers, and breeders do not appreciate people who breed "purebread Puggles" or other designer dogs, because they are only breeding mutts and adding to the already large dog population of the world.

If you're considering buying a puggle, please don't get one from a breeder! These aren't responsible breeders - they're just trying to make money off of a fad for "designer dogs". They probably haven't health tested any of their mating pairs, meaning that 2 years down the road those puppies can come up with all sorts of disorders that could have been avoided if their parents had never been bred. Also, since they're a mix, there's no telling what you'll get. A littler of 5 pups could all be very different puppies. Some could be more puggish, some could be more beaglish, or a perfect mix, or one could get all the bad qualities of both breeds... it's not as controlled as breeding two purebred dogs of the same breed, where you can make a pretty good bet as to what kind of pup you'll get.

I'm sure there are plenty of puggles in shelters that are waiting for loving homes. :) If you need health info on them, well, they are just mixes between pugs and beagles so look up information on those two breeds and you're set. A puggle can have any or all of the health problems from either breed (now do you see why it's not such a good idea to breed them?) They can also have any of the good or bad qualities of either breed. So read up on pugs and beagles and you should be okay!

It is interesting to read everyone bash on these new hybrid breeds such as the Puggle, Labradoodle, ect. Apparently no one has considered that fact that without crossbreeding we would never have some of the best purebred dogs that exist today. A Great Dane did not start out as a giant of the dog world, rather careful breeding of the largest English and Tibetan mastiffs and Irish wolfhounds to create a tall, strong animal that could help take on the likes of wild boar, deer, and even wolves.

Of course this is just one example. Look to the AKC for close to 150 more examples. Even those dogs that have direct lines to their ancient ancestors have been selectively breed overtime to develop certain characteristics and lose others.

Just a little history to start my real answer. The Puggle makes a great pet that combines the traits of both pugs and beagles. They have a long lifespan of 12-15 years, are intelligent, compact in size at 20 – 30lbs and make EXCELLENT family pets. So to all the above answers that have attached a perfectly good mixed breed dog just based on the fact that it has been tagged a “Designer Dog” is ridiculous. Look to history for your answer on whether or not cross breeding dogs works out well for everyone. And half of the people who responded probably own one of those “purebred” dogs that started out as a wolf or dingo and was transformed into the calm and domestic pet that is in their house today.

If you don't already own please do not get one. This is a breed that is strictly bred by people interested in sheer profit. The only place to buy a Puggle is from a pet shop. These puppies are supplied by puppy mills...no matter what they tell you. This mixed breed has the goofiness of a pug paired with the distraction level of a beagle. Most are extremely difficult to train although it can be done. You may start seeing this breed often in shelters due to the difficulty for training. If you already own a Puggle reward based training is a must! This will help them learn to focus...Heads up! you will have your work cut out for you. Practice time will be twice that of most other dogs. All dogs can learn with the right training. you will definitely need patience with these guys. This is a breed that is a perfect example of breeding for a 'specific look' and out of popularity. The temperament and behavior was not taken into consideration. Best of luck!

You could have 5 pups in a litter and each would be different in looks, personailty, size, etc because they are mixed breeds. No 2 are going to have the same characteristics. So if someone told you how their "puggle" is, it doesn't mean yours would be the same. It might take after a pug, it might take after the beagle, it might have characteristics of both.

Yeah - they're mutts. They can be cute, depending on which side they take after, but they're not a "breed" or anything (although people will try to convince you that they're "rare" or "special" so they can con you into paying insane-stupid amounts of money for them).

If you're looking to get a beagle/pug mix, check out Beagle rescues and Pug rescues. With the number of idiot breeders out there making more of these "designer dogs" every day, they're cropping up in rescue, too, as people throw them away.

Many have structural defects and breathing issues so you need to be careful. They are a mix not a breed. They are dogs that are produced for $$$$$. If you are looking for a nice mix check out your local shelter or rescue. There are many wonderful mixes there just waiting for a new chance at a new life. Don't line someones pocket who is delibrately producing mixes.

I have a boggle much the same. Nice dogs healthier than a pug. They will play when you want and entertain themselves or sleep if your busy. THey are just real nice pups. They get maybe 25-35 pounds maybe bigger.
