I have been to about 5 beaches this summer alone and every single time i didnt have sunscreen so i was burned pretty severly everytime. I know skin cancer is caused by excess of UV light and i have had some pretty bad sunburns in my early childhood. So for those people who are really educated on this subject what do you think my risk is for skin cancer

NO IT IS NOT JUST GENES AS A FACTOR.
IF YOU ARE NOT PROTECTING YOURSELF YOU ARE INCREASING YOUR RISKS EACH TIME YOU ARE IN THE UVA, UVB AND UVC RAYS.
PLEASE WEAR SUNSCREEN, COVER-UP AND TREAT YOUR BURNS SERIOSLY.
LESS THEN HALF THE TIME YOUR GENES OR FAMILY HISTORY PLAY A ROLE IN YOUR CANCER RISKS.

I'm not educated on this, but I wonder just how reliable all the hype about skin cancer is. My family (a large one at that) were farmers. They worked in the sun 10 hours a day every day all their lives. Not a single on of them had/has skin cancer.

I have lengthy questioned when this information would ruin, my three granddaughters, their mom have used tanning beds for a number of years. Incidentally none of them SMOKE or ever did, under no circumstances desired to. I on the other hand have smoked for many years, As a adolescence I was a every day water and solar baby.

As you say that you got sun burnt, you must be fair skinned.
With so much exposure your chances are very high.
Watch for changes on skin such as growths called acitinic keratoses and changes in any moles.

there is more skin cancer now more than ever....SINCE the introduction of sunscreens. i'd say your risk of skin cancer is no more, nor less than those who slather on those chemicals!
