Make sure that until you are able to control your dog and be confident with your dog to keep a short leash on it all the time (so that you have something to grab for!)
To get your dog to stop bolting out the door, figure out why s/he is so determined to leave. Does s/he get out often enough? Try taking your dog out on more walks or giving it more time in a yard.
If it is a dominate issue, when taking the dog on walks, make sure that you are the one walking the dog and not the dog walking you. Make the dog heel (talking to it and keeping it interested in you makes it easier). Walk with someone else and put your attention on the other. Don't be constantly watching the dog.
Also, be consistent when you are establishing dominance. If the animal is not allowed on the furniture, keep the dog off. Feed and walk the dog at regular times.
If your dog is young (2 or younger) it is probably an energy matter. Your dog probably has too much energy and needs to be played with or just ran around for a while before being locked indoors. If the dog is that young, it has too much energy and takes the opportunity to dash out and. Keep in mind that their ancestors are wolves and the wolves run constantly.
Also, terriers as a breed have more energy then other dogs. Your best bet would be to make sure that s/he gets enough exercise and to keep a short lead on the dog to keep a good hold of him/her when opening and closing the door or distracting the dog when the door is opened.

Buy a baby-gate (one of those gates you buy to keep your baby in a particular part of the house), and put it up in a place that will keep the dog from getting to the front door (or whichever door he tends to bolt out of). You could confine him to the kitchen or one room or just the upstairs... You pick the place. Wal-Mart, Target, some thrift stores, all carry baby gates.

Keep him safe behind closed doors until he learns to obey.
It is too dangerous to let him run loose. He could get hit by a car. Please, make sure he is cared for properly and don't risk his life. I really like dogs a lot.
Dogs are man and woman's best friend.

Put your dog on a leash, or train him to do otherwise.
Who is boss, you or the dog.?
