The armed forces does not accept non-high school grads. Go for your GED or get your butt back in school.

Unfortunately, in today's job market, you already have one strike against you going in - no high school diploma.

The best thing for you to do would be to at least try to get a diploma or a GED equivalent. That would show an employer that you are willing to finsih something once you've started it. That is a big plus in an interview.

Also, here are some tips: Get a resume' together' preferably done professionally. Most employment offices either have help in this area, or can direct you to someone who can. When going in for an interview, here are some VERY important things to do and not to do in an interview:

1. Do not be late. Arrive at least 15 minutes early for the interview.
2. Dress professionally; dress appropriately for the position for which you are applying. For example, don't go into an office in a three-piece suit if you'r looking for a blue-collar job. A nice dress shirt and a conservative tie are always appropropriate.
3. Not to sound insulting, but good hygiene is essential to a successful interview. Brushed teeth, good breath and no body odor, or excessive cologne.
4. Speak clearly and concisely, in as perfect English as is possible. Do not use slang, profanity or "street" talk. This may be fine for hanging out with your friends, but if you are serious about gettig a job, be aware that employers are turned off by such language.
5. Answer questions as they are asked. Don't get in a rush to say more than you have to in an interview. Let the interviewer set the pace at the interview.
6. Be friendly, but no too familiar. Uses of "Mr, " "Ms." "Sir" or "Ma'm" should be used unless the interviewer gives the permission to use first names. NEVER ASSUME IT!
7. Be sure to thank the interviewer and as soon as you get home, send them a nice thank you letter for the interview.

There are absolutley no guarantees about what an employer or an interviewer may want to ask. Try to anticipate, and don't get flustered if you don't know the answer to a question. Be honest; tryng to BS is not a good idea. One other thing; a good source for employment is employment agencies like Manpower. They can help you to get a resume' together, and send you on jobs right away, and many people end up getting hired as a result of a being a successful temp.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

One last comment - I hope you don't think I've been making broad assumptions or stereotyping you just because of the description you gave of yourself. All of my comments and suggestions have been honestly based from a sincere desire to help a fellow man. I do think these elements I've mentioned are essential for a successful interview because I've been there, too.

I suggest you go back to school but if school is not an option for you then I would say you can join the America Army, or go to a community college and see if you can get training in some field such as a cook or chief training some school have programs that don't require a lot of education to take certain programs with them. Of course you be limited to working as a short order cook, janitor, or even a bus boy in a restuarant. Sorry but with out a Grade 12 your chooses are limited. If you lucky you can get on a collating plant collating ad-mail flyers into bundles you don't need much education for that. Or you can deliver papers in the morning some people who have cars take on at least 5 paper routes and earn up to $1,000 canadian a month doing that. So good luck with your job search.

Get your G.E.D. and see what educational opportunities are available in your area with that. Without that you're pretty much doomed to crappy jobs, like food service or retail...for the rest of your life, regardless of your race.
Good luck!
