The baby is drinking in liquid love and feels and overwhelming sense of love for his mother. Mother and child are bonding, melding and molding together. Nursing babies even have the same dream patterns as the mother. Scientist feel they basically go to dreanland together. The mother falls in love with the baby too as they gaze in each others eyes.

All animals are attracted to face-shapes. You can hypnotize a pigeon with two balls on a stick (if you care to) because they look like eyes. Look at an abstract pattern, maybe wallpaper or fabric, and the first things your mind will make up are faces.

To bond. He's looking for security. With a heartbeat in one year, a known smell in the nose, and eyes he knows he can trust her. He wants to be sure that she will be there. He is also just trying to figure out the new world around him, and that can be a little bit scary! He knows who his mom is. :)
