I guess if something really bad and odd happens while you are trying to do the work of God, people will say the devil. If we are just being human and sinning then it's just our sinful nature. This Preacher had been a preacher for 30 years. He had a message on Satan that he preached 3 times. Every time he preached that message, some amazingly bad things would happen. The first time, his house had a fire, the second time all major appliances broke, washer, dryer, refrigerator, water heater. Third time major plumbing problems. I think I would blame that on him. George Mueller, a Christian in the 1800's. Supported over 4000 orphans and gave away 85,000.00 a year to missionaries. He didn't have a job and he wasn't rich. How did he do that? He used to make the children sit down at the table and give thanks for the food, when they didn't have any. Low and behold, someone would be at the door with breads and the milk wagon would loose a wheel right in front of the place. Giving all of those children bread and milk. I'd give God the credit for that one. I guess you could probably explain away both of those stories, but I can't.

Well, I'm a christian and I have to agree with you. Bad things happen because there is sin on the earth and because people are human. We should praise God because of who HE is, not because of the circumstances. God deserves praise even when bad things happen. Some bad things ARE the devil's fault, though. That's why prayer is so important!

Well I cant speak for all Christians, but I do thank God for all good things. Satan isnt going to give me good things. Sometimes what Im given looks bad, and its hard to be thankful for it so of course its either mine or Satan's fault. Usually I do see good come from the bad and therefor thank God for it. Sometimes bad things happen and there is no known human that is responsible for it so in those cases it's hard to point to an individual.

Well, you cannot say xtians (PLURAL) because I am a catholic and I don't believe that..well, let's start with something: I believe in right or wrong, in a God, I don't believe in the church and all the politics surrounding it...
I think that God gave us the chance to make our choices and the evil is inside everyone of us, our choices make this a better or worse place to live in.

Actually, we are called to rejoice in all things, and not to place blame. "Keep on rejoicing in the Lord at all times. I will say it again: Keep on rejoicing!" (Philippians 4:4)
And when something good does happen, we are called to praise God. As James tells us, "Every generous act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father who made the heavenly lights, in whom there is no inconsistency or shifting shadow." (James 1:17)
Whether our problems be with people or the devil, the important thing is to trust in God. As the Proverb says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don't lean on your understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
It is when we focus on things or the issues in our lives, that we take our focus off of God. And that's when we get into trouble.

Your ideas of Christianity don’t stem from the Bible. God creates both light and darkness (Isaiah 45:7), and is to be acknowledged and praised for both the desirable and the undesirable (Job 2:10).

It is never a person on Earths anything. Religious people say everything is God and if you have any ideas that you are in power it is the devil. So basically the biggest hypocrisy in religion is being told you have free will but nothing you do is done by you but by God. It is all bull sht.

I praise God for all good things!!
Bad things... evil things... immoral things... wars… disease: etc: -
‘YES’ sometimes I blame the devil... especially where ‘RELIGION’ is concerned!! (see my previous answers for explanation).
Sometimes: sin, & sinful nature...
But as you say:
99.9% of the time... when a bad thing/s happen/s: it is because of the 'Choice/s' that we 'Humans' have decided to make: ‘Individually’: or as ‘Groups/Nations’, etc!!
And sadly: this is done many, many, many, times… In the name of ‘God’… ‘NOT’ the devil!!

A couple thoughts:
Christians are instructed to praise and thank God for trials and challenges too - for they bring growth.
We are all creatures of free choice and are responsible for the way we respond to situations and are responsible for our choices. It is God who supplies those choices.

You ask a good question. It is sometimes the devil sometimes the humans. When people constantly say it is the devil, and they keep doing something wrong, they are not taking responsibility for their actions and are spiritually immature.
