I was told that you should get married on the half hour. Because it demonstrates prosperity as the minute hand moves up. It is said that on the hour is bad luck.

There really isn't a set time that you are supposed to get married. Generally the start times are set by the place you are getting married. Many church wedding will be either morning weddings (10/11 am) or early afternoon (1/2/3pm). Many outdoor sites will have something in the late afternoon (2/3pm). However places will also offer evening wedding times as well (5/6/7) It just depends on you. If timing is an issue to you, I would suggest calling around, if time isn't the issue but location is, then have fun with it. Congrats and enjoy

I always heard that you should pick the half or the hour. Either if fine, but the hour is more traditional.
Don't plan for an off time, like :15, :35, :40 after the hour. It's too hard to get the guests there on time. The easier times to remember are the round ones :00 or :30. It's for connivance for everybody involved.

Not sure if it is to late to offer you an answer to this question. I have always heard that you always want to have the time going up NOT down. Like 5:30, 2:30, 12:30 NEVER 1:00, 3:15, 6:00

I don't know but I most weddings I have attended have been on the hour. It's YOUR wedding, however, and I say "bunk" to rules - get married at 5:45 if it suits you.
Seriously, I had some fellow try to tell me all the rules about colors, themes, etc., when I was planning my wedding: Will you be paying for it then? That's what I wanted to say. Instead I just said it was my wedding and I would plan it as I wished. I ain't afraid of the wedding police!

More like superstition. You are suppose to get married with the hands on the clock going up. So the wedding should start on the half hour.

You get married when the minute hand is on the up-swing. So, 5:30 and on.

Never heard of this. In my experience, the wedding time is usually pretty much dictated by the ceremony site.

Good question? I don't really know. I'd say just get married when the time is best for you.
