Yes, I have and they are really good. I slice, to use salt, pepper, beaten egg and dip in crushed cornflakes or cornmeal, browning them in butter. Very good. Serve with a roasted chicken or pork chops, mashed potatoes and you are set!
A side note for the person who thought that green tomatoes were toxic. Everyone probably knows that there was a time when the population thought that tomatoes as a whole were poisonous, and they were banned. They aren't of course. The reason people thought that, was because the (people of the time) used peuter plates. Tomatoes are acid and they leeched out the lead from the plates, platters used at the time. They , the people, died from lead poisoning--not the tomatoes! I don't know who or how it was determined/discovered what the real culprit was, but I am glad that they did! What would my hamburger be like without a thick juicy sliced tomato! Now, how's that for a history lesson!

I am from the Southern United States and grew up on them.
Here's the deal:
Drizzle salt on sliced green tomatoes. The firmer the tomatoes, the better. Let sit for 20 minutes, then dry w/ paper towel, dip in egg & then in a batter of corn meal, a little paprika, & ground pepper, then fry in a cast iron skillet in oil until browned. They're awesome. Chichi Northerners discovered them about 10 years ago and will serve them with some fancy dipping sauces, but that's not traditional or necessary. Enjoy.

There are many way to fix them, but basicly they are just moderate to thinly slice green tomatoe. That are breaded and then fried. They have a wonderful flavor. The bread can be anything from a beer batter to just dripping them in flour. I like to add a little garlic salt to mine before I cook them they Breading should be golden brown, and the tomatoe slightly firmwhen done.

Fried green tomatoes taste great. I beat an egg and mix it with some milk. Then I dip the tomato slice in it and then dip it in flour. You can fry them on the stove or a deep fryer. I usually fry them until they are golden brown. You can season to taste. Hope you try them and like them.

Yes - I have. Some tomatoes grew in my garden and never ripened, so I decided to try frying them (also prompted by the film title!)
I sliced them up in quite thick slices, and cut the small ones in half, then I shallow fried them in a frying pan, and didn't add anything else.
They were a delicious savoury flavour, a similar strength of flavour to gherkins, but much nicer. I'd definately have them again if I got thechance.

Oh Yes... Delicious.... especially when fried in Bacon grease.
Just slice them like you would a regular tomato (maybe a little thicker), batter them in a flour, salt & pepper and fry them in a pan of grease until brown on each side. Easy to make, delicious to eat.

Yes, love them. To make them, slice your green tomatoes about 1/4 inch thick. Coat them in a mixture of 1/2 c. cornmeal, 1/2 c. self-rising flour, 1tsp. salt, 1tsp. black pepper. Fry them in oil over medium heat until brown and crispy.
