You probably should have her checked to make sure that there is not something physically wrong with her. What worked for me, was I made my son clean up himself. I stood there while he washed himself off and put new underwear on. Good Luck!

I'm inclined to say it might be more than just a quirk in her behavior. She may have an underdeveloped bladder, which is a problem many bed-wetters have also. They simply cannot hold their urine as long and often fail to make it to the potty.
What ever you do, I hope you don't do or say anything that makes her fell shame. If you do, she will probably regress even more. Sometimes as parents we say things before we think, but this is a touchy subject that should be handled carefully. Her self esteem could be harmed if it is not.
Rewards are usually better than consequences, but they may not work. Keep trying though.
Patience...simple patience...may be what you need the most.....good luck.

My daughter had the same problem. It turned out to be urinary reflux, that is when the urine travels the opposite way, instead of going out through her bladder, it goes back into her kidneys. This can damage her kidneys if she has a urinary tract infection. They detected this by doing a VCUG. They insert a small cathether into her bladder and fill it with fluid, while looking at it through a special x-ray. They will be able to see it if it goes into her bladder. Sometimes the problem is resolved with time, other times surgery will be required. They prescribed a medication called Detrol LA for my daughter and also a antibiotic to prevent any infection. I think you might want to talk to her pediatrician and try to take her to see a urologist.

it sounds like she has regressed---sometimes that happens as a reaction to a new stress in a childs life. Has anything changed like starting school or nervous about starting, mom and dad having problems, if your single is there a new boyfriend, or changes in an older childs behavior etc. At the age of 4 they have a real hard time dealing with emotions and such and this may be how she is reacting to something new.

You should definetly take her to the dr and get her checked out. My sister did this too and she had a serious kidney problem that required surgery and made her lose part of one kidney. I really hope that's not the case here but get the serious stuff ruled out. And like someone else said it could be stress related or that she's trying to get attention. (Any new babies around or anything?) Good luck!

Have you tried rewarding her with her favorite candy or something? I have a four-year-old daughter and she did the same thing. If my daughter didn't pee her pants for the week, she got a new Barbie. And it works. If she does pee and it isn't an accident, tell her that she doesn't get her reward. And if it isn't an accident, just tell her the same. Don't get mad at her if she does, though.

i dont want to sound mean or anything, but treat her like she was a baby. lierally. talk baby talk to her, dont let her do any big kid stuff. when she gets mad tell only babies pee their pants, and big kids dont. and ask her what she wants to be.
