If there is truly only one God, then he is not only the God of Israel, but of all people everywhere. It could turn out that all of us have a lot to learn.

Most of the people either took men as thier lord or idols. Both were created and the Lord GOD of Israel(pbuh) was and is the only GOD that was never created. That is why they say the lord GOD of Israel(pbuh) is the only "TRUE" GOD. Most other GODs walked this planet whereas the lord GOD of Israel(pbuh) has no feet. HE is far from requiring that. But the false GOD thing is how you percieve it. Like if you believe there is a GOD of all gods, then they are true in thier own false right. If that makes sense to you. For example, with King Solomon(pbuh). They say his kingdom fell because he allowed people to worship other dieties. But I personally don't accept this doctrine. I think he just accepted life on it's terms and the existance of what is. And no I don't think he took another lord than the lord GOD of Israel(pbuh). It was not other dieties, but divine men that he accepted. Like jesus of nazarath, krishna of india, and vishnu. All men. But mankind loves to put forth thier excuses to why things are. And they could be right, but they can also be wrong. The difference between a conjecture and a fact.PEACE!

boy I am reeeelly biased to answer this question.
but if anything it would come down to history. the G-d of Israel was able to do things that as we see in the Bible were not possible of the god's of other cultures. Ie splitting of the sea, ten plagues, revelation at Mt Sinai, the list goes on.
but then again you have to accept the Biblical account of these events.
That is why the G-d of Israel has only been accepted by Abramatic faiths such as Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Bahai.
theirs an actual question even if the Bible dose not say that their are other "forces" or "gods" besides the G-d of Israel, but that is a long discussion.
but the fact is the concept of the G-d of Israel being the one true G-d dose not exist in religions like Hinduism and Buddhism as you well know.

I do not believe that the God of Israel "turned out" to be the one true God. I believe He was from the beginning. He was the God of "all humans". But unfortunately our ancestors turned away from God. God chose the Jews to be an example to the rest of the world. He chose the most stubborn, arrogant, and ungrateful tribe on earth. God has given us a 3500 year (approximately) account of what happens when we obey a loving God, and also what happens when we reject God. That is the whole purpose of the history recounted in the Bible about Israel. If we obey and worship the one true God-we will be blessed, if we reject Him-we will be cursed.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the one true God. He has been working to redeem mankind ever since the Satan tricked Adam and Eve. There is one sure fact about the future, God has already won and Satan, his fallen angels, and all of his followers will be cast into the lake of fire. Being the hater that he is, why wouldn't he want to influence as many people as he can to follow him. I can't see a more diabolical plan than to flood the market with lots of confusing religions in hopes that many will pick the wrong one or be so dissuaded as to be an atheist. Point in fact, it's amazing to me that every major religion either have Jesus or a Jesus-like figure as a major religious figure, but the only difference is He isn't the Son of God; therefore nullifying any chance of salvation. You don't get people to believe a lie by being obvious, you have to be discreet--change only a couple of things at a time. Corrupt a few leaders at a time to make the entire system corrupt. Take a word of advice, research information for yourself. Pray for guidance. The Bible is the divinely inspired word of God. Don't be so "intelligent" that you intellectualize yourself and your family right into hell.

Actually in this day and age all the gods turned out to be false. Science seems to be the pop one. I don't believe science can explain all, but then i also don't believe in a god from israel (just look at how that country is doing).

What I really want is the BASIS for the belief that one god is true whereas the others are false.

What do you mean "turned out to be false"? They ALWAYS were false, and there was ALWAYS only ONE true God, the God of the Bible! God bless!
Psalm 115:1-8
1
Not to us, O LORD, but to you goes all the glory
for your unfailing love and faithfulness.
2
Why let the nations say,
"Where is their God?"
3
For our God is in the heavens,
and he does as he wishes.
4
Their idols are merely things of silver and gold,
shaped by human hands.
5
They cannot talk, though they have mouths,
or see, though they have eyes!
6
They cannot hear with their ears,
or smell with their noses,
7 or feel with their hands,
or walk with their feet,
or utter sounds with their throats!
8
And those who make them are just like them,
as are all who trust in them.
