My parents are re-modeling our house, and I choose this really pretty color for my own room. It's a very very light liliac. My bedspread is actually a pinkish-purple with white. All my furniture is white. And we're getting new carpeting too, but I dont know what color carpet I want. I was thinking of a light creamy color, but I really have no clue. Have any suggestions? Any comments will help. Thanks

cream is a good complimentary color, if you want to add some drama go with a darker shade of purple, the right shade will highlight your furniture and bedding while the lighter walls will balance out the room. painting and decorating contractor

A pale lime or pistachio green would go nicely with the lilac, and if the furniture is white, cream carpet is not the best combination, cream.against the white will look dingy or discouloured. Try a contrasting colour instead.
For a bedroom to be restful, cool, soft colours are best.
But for carpeting, a too light colour will be very hard to keep clean, any small stain will show immediately..
A darker lilac or deep lavender will show off the white furniture beautifully.. And use accent colours on pillows and curtains. The pale yellow would be nice, or pink and different shades of lilac, or the lime green...
You have a fair amount of options...

Since light purple is a 'soft' color it's easy to pair it with a lot of other colors... For instance light purple would go really well with - Dark purple, Dark pink, Sky blue, light green, or a light yellow. Hope this helps!

A white, or off white, a green(real light green). The white would be good if your family plans on selling anytime in the future. The green because purple is a color that is found on nature and is always (almost) with green... It doesn't have to be a dark green. A berber carpet that is white with some green in it would work. Also.. what about an area rug instead?

You can compliment the walls with adding a little light green or light yellow with the purple, for example use a different color for the trim of windows, doors. Or paint your room half or two thirds one color and the rest another.

If you just want a suggestion for the color of the carpet, I would say a light cream color is perfect, it will go with anything and plus you accent it with purple rugs to compliment your walls.

Go with a neutral color for the carpet. That way you can change your mind about the entire color scheme later if you wish and you won't have to replace it. It's probably the most expensive item in your room.

Accent with a pale mint or lime green on pillows, maybe curtains and a throw rug on top the carpet, lampshades or what have you. Look at an African violet plant to get the feel of the color scheme.

If you're looking to go with a light colour, then a light creamy colour would look really nice, like a beige or an oatmeal.

My bedroom is a pale violet colour, and the bedspread is navy, beige, white and mauve. There are also accents here and there in chrome. It sounds like a funny combination but it's really nice. Green would also look very nice - very Spring.

Sage green or any light green shade is always nice with purples. I'd go with a nuetral color with the carpet, though. Or hardwoods. Yellow, green and lavender is a fresh colorscheme that is timeless. Goes well for Shabby-Chic.
