It is always hard to lose a cherished pet. Tell your Aunt that it was not her fault that Sampson was hit by a car. It was an accident, and accidents happen. There are many good forums online for people who have lost pets. Go to a search engine and type 'pet bereavement message boards' and find one that you like.

My condolences to you both. Sampson is at the Rainbow Bridge playing with all the other dogs that have crossed over. You can read the poem at the link below. Hugs!

We had a big black lab that my aunt accidently let out, and he got run over by 18 wheeler truck. It was my fathers dog, and he was upset. We have a nice picture of the dog framed in the living room, and that was over 7 years ago. He was upset for a few weeks, and then he was okay. I say try to do the same frame a nice picture, or maybe if you don't have a picture write about your favorite memory of the dog. She will feel better just needs some time.

I'm so sorry! :-( Just try to be with her right now if she needs you... Some people just don't take losing a pet seriously enough so she may need extra support from you since you care... If she wasn't letting the dog run assure her it's not her fault; every dog gets out once in a while... If the dog was running loose, unsupervised then you can't say that as she would have to take some responsibility or risk it happening again... Again, so sorry for your loss!!! P.S. Since you added how the dog was kept, please assure her that no one would consider that her fault!!! She is blameless!!!

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry for you and your aunt's loss. The best thing to do for your aunt is just be there for her and be supportive. Let her cry and get her grief out. Loosing a pet is very hard they become a part of the family. Best wishes to you and again I'm sorry about your loss.

first off being the dog lover i am. i give my sincere condolences to you and your family for losing a beloved member!!! many that dont understand the unconditional love a dog gives will try to make light of your grief. DONT LET THE BASTARDS DO THAT!!!! my dog kahlua died in 2003 after a prolonged illness that eventually resulted in me putting him to sleep!! 17 years of companionship. i still grieve for that dog!! i am a big man in statue some would say, but the death of that dog brought me to me knees in tears!!!!!!!! i got my dog cremated and his ashes sit on my fireplace mantel, under his professionally painted oil painting that i had a local artist paint. i still kiss his picture ever night before i go to bed and he lives in my heart!! take care and i wish i knew you personally, so that i could console you and your family!! best wishes for your hurting hearts!!
