Be conscious about what you're eating. Avoid foods high in sugar and fat, and go easy on the starches too. Don't eat any white starches (white flour, white rice, white bread), it's got next to no nutritional value. Keep portion control in mind - what you get at a fast food place is often enough food for two people.
If you have to eat on the run, make yourself a bunch of easy stuff on the weekend (chili is very good - high fibre and low fat if you make it right), and keep it in containers in your fridge. Take one to work every day, or take them all and store them in a fridge there.
Exercise at least a little - there is no "sitting on your butt" weight loss plan. At the very least, walk 30 minutes every weekday. It will do you good in so many ways.
If you really need to eat something but want to keep your weight in mind, have low-fat popcorn (not the stuff drenched in butter and coated in salt). Look for SmartPop or something like that. A whole bag hardly makes a dent as far as fat and calories go.
Oh - and make sure you're drinking lots of water. It really helps, and you'll see a big difference in the beginning when the water weight comes off. Your body does get used to it after a while and you won't have to pee every 20 minutes. Proper hydration helps your body flush out toxins and other yucks.

You might want to consider joining Weight Watchers. Not only is their program flexible as fas as eating out is considered but also now you can just sign up to follow their program online if you don't like the idea of going to weekly meetings, etc. I think they are the best program available because they actually encourage you to eat a certain amount every day rather then starving yourself or saying just avoid carbs or totaly skip fat, etc. And...looking at the points values attached with some of the foods really makes one take a step back and reconsider their food choices and eat healthier.

Maybe if you want to lose weight you should try to hit the gym after work or on the weekends. That would probably help out a lot. And if you brought healthy snacks to work, you could eat those and still stay healthy and manage/lose weight.

if you can find a good nutritionist near you, that's what i would recommend. if not, then eliminate all fast foods and soda that you possible can from your diet and run or do cardio for at least 30 min-1 hour a day. vegetarians/vegans tend to be a lot healthier too, so that would also be a good idea.

I lost about 50 lbs by giving up regular soft drinks and watching my carb intake. I went from about 175 lbs to 125 and have kept it off approximately 2.5 years. Good luck!

DO not starve yourself it just makes it worse because when your diet is done you get so hungry you start cramming food into your face and gain more pounds

Eat mostly vegetables and fruits, limit your intake of sugar and breads, and have meat or dairy at each meal.
