Dear Kingdom Child: Projecting the only message Jesus ever wanted taken to the World can not be done - through the messages of Hellfire and Damnation. Nor through the concept of the Last Judgement (oh-oh!). Nor through the belief that anyone who does not accept the Teacher of teachers, Jesus, will be damned - no matter how good a life they led - no matter how highly developed they are in spirituality and no matter how devoted in their minds they are to the Return to God. Then there is always the one - without Baptism you will go to Hell.
Jesus IS the way. But, there are other excellent teachers available who can take you great lengths on your Journey. The Holy Spirit who taught Jesus, taught also, Socrates, Confuscious, Buddha, etc. They all express what they learned through their different personalities, but you will learn the same basic truths.
Love doesn't threaten brothers with fire and damnation. It doesn't turn the Last Judgement into something Jesus says it never was meant to be. Baptism doesn't do a thing - one way or another - it all takes place in your soul - where it counts. Baptism may be appealing - Jesus did it. Or it may not. Do you believe your Father would not allow his holy Child to Return to Him because He was not Baptized? His soul and the disposition of his heart, the cleansing he has been through due to the teachings of Jesus, or the teacher of choice, are what the Father cares about. Teachers prepare us to understand our Relationship with the Father. To understand our Relationship with each other. Our One-ness, and what that means ! What the Separation was about - it's actual - and did not involve an apple ! What the Return truly is - what needs to be done in our souls for that Return. This is what truly counts.
Interpretations do not mean anything. The INTENTION of the heart means everything.
Did Jesus desire His Church to fragment into a million pieces, each having an interpretation of what He taught or what the Old Testament actually said? Did He desire us to be unkind toward those who do not believe our interpretation? To make them wrong? To make them feel unloved and not eligible for the Return?
Did Jesus desire that a loving Father be represented as jealous, wrathful, and vengeful? Did He desire that any member of any church decide that the ONLY method to get into "heaven" again is through a simple ritual that was symbolic of the cleanliness we need to gain - in our souls? It's just symbolic. Are we doing what He taught? Or, are we doing what we interpret and decide upon, ourselves.
I am a Christian. I know he wanted the "ourself" part and the multitude of interpretations - out of it. Just do as He said.
About interpreting. . .a real one-on-one Relationship with Jesus is a working Relationship. This means you ask Him questions, directly. It means you have learned to "hear" His voice in your Mind as He gives to you His answers. After the Ascension, He did not stop teaching. He is very much still with us. He still is teaching. By invitation only - He will enter into your studies and answer questions that there be no more interpretation. Look what our interpretations have done !
Much of what I have mentioned above is believed as literal truth, in the Old Testament. Some of it is contained in the New Testament. But if you speak to Jesus as your Teacher, He will tell you what was so - and what was not. The disciples had the ability to question Him. They were able to stay more clear on things. We have that ability too. Truly, we do.
Then, you can get to love - and a loving image.

By being good examples, and showing others what it really means to be a Christian. Jesus said to "love one another, as I have loved you..." and he loved even the sinners, so why do some of us insist on preaching their message with hatred instead of love? It's my mission in life to change that way of thinking, and if more people did that, it would get us back on track.

I think the prayer and spreading the word of God is the best answer. Reading and knowing the Bible. Sharing what you know and teaching others about God's word. He is awesome. He is the One and the Only. Praise his name and worship him. There is nothing stronger than the power of prayer. We all need to pray for one another on a daily basis. God hears and answers prayers. I am testimony to that. God Bless you.

Religon of any kind is corrupted in its organizational aspect. Organizations seek not merely to teach about God, but to grow the organization. This divided allegiance is central to the being "off track." It is money, of course, that is used to grow the religion, and money does not relate in any way to God. Money is indifferent to God, but axiomatically political. We need to give greater respect to the conscience, and away from criticism of another religion because it is different. We need to use language creatively. There was a joker who wrote his/her message today in (apparently) arabic. One doubts, of course, that this was intended to be esoteric. It was intended to be ethnocentric. Ethnocentrism has no place in a worthwhile religious discussion.

Many people do. The world is quite hostile to Christ. They do want to hear about love, but not about truth. Each person has to surrender to Christ and live a life of love and truth. God is glorified when we do what he says. The results are up to him alone.

I'm not a Christian, but I do sincerely hope that you can succeed at this, and I respect you for having the courage to ask this question.
I do have a suggestion for you. It seems to me that the most vocal Christians, at least, have completely abandoned any role for faith. They believe in God, but they insist that their belief is based in evidence. It is not: there is no evidence for the existence of a god. For a Christian, there shouldn't need to be: that's what faith is for.
I have very little respect for Christians who insist that they have evidence (and invariably cite something either so vague as to be meaningless, so false as to be dishonest, or so illogical as to suggest that he or she simply isn't very bright). I have a LOT of respect for Christians who tell me that their belief is based in faith, not evidence. If you want your behavior to reflect well on your beliefs, that's the key: have the faith to admit that there is no evidence for your belief. But keep the belief.
I honestly hope that you make some headway on this. Good luck.

I'm sorry, but I don't much like such generalizations. The Christians I know read their bible, and do everything they can to be doers of the Word and not hearers only. I admire the people in my church. I think there are alot of Christians out there doing beautiful things for Jesus, drawing no attention to themselves.

There are way too many self-righteous sanctimonious smug "christians" in the world.willing to spread their narrow minded right wing views at every opportunity without actually doing anything that is really christian.
Back to basics is what I say, "do as I do, not as I say"
Why do all the new Christians believe that true christian behaviour is simply reading the bible?
Come on give me PRACTICAL examples of good christian deeds, most of you don't know what it means to be a true Christian.

How to get back on track...have we ever been on track? What helped me was to spend time in the Gospels just watching and listening to Jesus. No Bible study, or trying to figure it out...just watching Him as if I was there in the crowd. Turning the mind off and being open to the Holy Spirit drew my heart even closer to my Lord. That's it... The heart connection. "If you love Me you will obey Me..." Big IF. When we love Him, really love Him, and start treating others the way we would treat Him, and living as though He really IS right there with us every moment (and He IS) our whole lives would be transformed. "As you do it to the least of these, you do it to Me." "Do everything as unto the Lord and not unto men." "If thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light." Single eyed vision...living in the presence of God. Live in His presence and you will definitely get back on track.
Then learning to listen to Him in each moment, and letting things unfold without controlling or filling the moment with mind chatter and agendas.
Nuff said....
