Q: Is alcohol causing my diarrhea?
A: It is likely that the diarrhea and gas you are experiencing are effects of the alcohol, and not of any liver disease. Alcohol has toxic effects on the cells of the gastro-intestinal system. It can cause inflammation of the stomach (gastritis) and generalized irritability of the bowelcausing discomfort and diarrhea.
Similarly, alcohol can impair absorption in the small intestine. This means that the waste moves quicker through your bodymaking it difficult for the colon to successfully remove all the water from the material. The result of which is diarrhea.
Also, if nutrients are not absorbed in the small intestine, bacteria in the colon can digest extra nutrients and creates gas as a bi-product.

First of all, it's not gross that you keep getting diarrhea after your third drink. We're human, it's a bona fide bodily function and it's good that you're so upfront because you're letting some other young one know that it COULD happen.
Now, why? There could be many reasons, among them that you: have a low tolerance for alcohol; are drinking on an empty stomach; are drinking a cheap red or are drinking Zinfandel.

Could be you're allergic to that particular wine or to wine itself. I have the same problem with brandy, but not gin, vodka, or wine. Try to switch - either to a another type/brand wine or go with a cocktail that's not too potent, like a Tom Collins or daiquiri, to see if that makes a difference.

What are you drinking, have you changed it up or do you stick with the same thing. If you are sticking with the same thing it might be one of the ingredients in that drink. Otherwise, my suggestion is to take an anti diarrhea medication before you start drinking. Good Luck.

drink more water during the rest of the day. it sounds like just a coincidence that it keeps happening after 3 drinks, but you should definitely increase the amount of water that you drink during the day.

you better lay off the wine and see a doctor ,you may be having a reaction to it. so change to a non toxic drink, like soda with lime ,everyone will think your drinking but you know your not.

Maybe the wine has sulfates that don't agree with you. Try drinking something else.
