Try this argument: it's better than a tattoo. If / when you outgrow the piercing, you take it out, and it's gone.
The tattoo you're stuck with for life!!!! Make him realize how much better it is, or maybe pretend you want a tattoo and "settle" for a piercing.

Well I'd have to say that I know its very important for you to be yourself and do things that make you happy, but also remember that just because your 18 doesn't make doing what ever you want ok. Your parents are pretty nice giving you a roof over your head and not telling you that now that your 18 its time to move out. Now im not telling you your wrong for asking and wanting a piercing, im just saying don't go over board and ruin your relationship with your dad over a piercing. Maybe ask him a couple of times, nicely, with reasons, tease him about it a little. If he still says no, then you'll have to deal with it. Its not your house, its his. When your able move out and live on your own you will appreciate it a lot more. You will get what you want and still have a relationship with your dad. It just takes time, you have to be patient.

I would tell your dad that you would be responsible in caring for the piercing as it heals. also you will find the best and most hygenic place to get pierced. it also depends on what you want to get pierced. each why of caring for it is different. Depending on your age and style of dress some piercing may hinder you professionally. if you are looking for a corporate job out of college a tongue might show during the interview and it might ruin your chances. (even though some professionals have tongue piercings) so don't smile too wide or laugh with your mouth wide open. navel piercings won't be seen.

Where's the piercing going to be? It all depends. Sometimes father knows best. Wait a little if you're still young. Who cares if your trashy friends are already piercing. And please don't ever get tatoos. That's the trash stamp.

Well Dads are the worst, trust me I grew up with just my Dad around and my life was really hard, just always know that he is trying to do whats best for you, and Dads just don't understand girls the way they should. Give it time he will come around just don't do anything behind is back and things will work out for the best for you and him both.

like, if you wanna get your belly button pierced, wear a fake ring for awhile. you can buy magnetic ones at a lot of peircing places. pretty much the same for all peircings. then show him *but at like its real* and wait for him to get used to it, then wait a bit and tell him its fake and make him take you to get the real thing (if you have to go with him) and if you can go alone, just go w/out telling him. lol good luck

Depending on your age, if 18 go do it. If not 18 keep nagging at him like my daughter did to get her tattoo.
