Yes. My older sister.
My parents shower her in love and affection and ALWAYS yell at me/tell me how miserable I make everything.
My dad will get on the phone to her and be all "Oh! Hiiiii sweetie! How are you?" while he gets on the phone to me and says, "Yeah, whaddya want...?"
Also, my sister can be an absolute ***** to me and everyone lets her get away with it, yet as soon as I defend myself, or say something rude to her, I'M the bad guy.
One thing which really pissed me off was, one time I was over at her house and I doodled a silly picture of my parents and her (nothing offensive, just cartoon characters)- I labelled everyone's names and left it on the loungeroom table.
When I returned, my sister had drawn a picture of a drug-****** looking skeleton with thinning hair that looked just disgusting and had pointed an arrow at it that said "disgusting skeleton Natasha" (my name's Natasha).
My sister's clinically overweight and I've been in and out of hospital with anorexia and I found it REALLY offensive- I showed my mum, who just shrugged and said "That's Larissa for you!"
If I had drawn a picture of my sister as a big, fat, ugly cow with a greasy hamburger in her hand and an arrow pointing to her saying "big fat heffer", I'd have got into SO much trouble.
She has also made numerous comments on my weight and is generally really rude to me. I'm 17 and she's 24 and she STILL hasn't learnt how to not be a complete and utter *****.
Hmm... sorry for the major rant.... it's just a topic which pisses me off a lot.

Yeah, my youngest brother has been my mom's favorite child and we've had major problems in the past because of it, and she'd always deny it, but now that he went back to living with her, she is realized, he is not as she thought and has really changed towards him, which goes to show me, why we shouldn't really have favorites, my oldest niece was my favorite at some point, perhaps she is still is to a degree, but she's changed too, and I just know it's not really good to have favorites, and I was wrong about my smaller niece, she is also quite adorable, perhaps even more.
I also know you can really hurt people by doing this, I've been on both ends and it hurts when someone puts you in a second category, it should be equal, for the sake of the children and their self-esteem.

absolutely. parents are human and tend to gravatate to the child they communicate best with...or the one that shows the most promise of NOT disappointing the parent. Unfortunately some parents don't know how to be fair with their time and attention. I'm the oldest of 6 six. 3 girls from 1st dad and 3 boys from 2nd dad. the boys are the favorites, especially #1 and #3.

Not necessarily a favorite child, but they tolerate things more from my little sister than they did from me. Parents have different expectations for each child so it may seem like they favor one over the other.

Ummmmmm, yes, years later going Thru conflict and intervention with family, it was verbalized that "I was the one they let fall through the cracks". There were six of us kids and I guess that's how it went. There were a couple favorites but I won't say, because at this stage in my life, I'm just glad we are all closer than ever now.

Most definitely there is a favorite child--my youngest brother. In my mother's eyes, he can do no wrong, and that is sometimes very hard to handle when he gets away with things that I can't.

Yes, it's pretty clear my parents like my little brother better than me. He's got a TV in his room, an expensive CD player, he just got a brand new portable CD player and he has one of those slim PS2s. I NEVER had a TV in my room when I lived with them, let alone a new PS2! And they're letting him keep all the old NES games even though they were Christmas presents for ME when I was little. He gets all kinds of luxuries I never got and I'm glad I moved out.

It is only two of us, there is no favorite child, but sometimes my parent has to choose the best for us, and it could be not equal, but I think it's ok.
They just want us to learn something that we can't always have what we want.
