I'll tell ya what i think.. I'm a disabled vet, I served my country, paid my taxes, faced danger, and I get a puny little check from the Department of Veteran's Affairs. It comes in on the first. and I have a wife and 2 kids to feed, not everybody can wait till it's 'convenient' to shop.. we have to keep eating, and, if you think it's easy on my money, walk in my shoes...
Nothing will be done about the illegals because Congressmen and presidents are cowards.. Governors and others of their ilk try to do something to help AMERICANs and get slammed by those who think the illegals should be babied and pampered..
Where are MY rights? Where are my big food stamp checks? Where is MY hospitalization? I drive 50 miles, one way, for medical care, cause I can't afford it at a civilian doctor, and have to use the VA. I get travel pay... it's 9.46, the gov't takes 6 of that back.. why? I don't know. the stingy bastiches have tons more than I will ever have, but, they do it to us..
Ohhh, and, this isn't really directed to you, I'm sorry, you asked this question, and I saw some really callous and cold-hearted answers, and had to respond.
Asker, most of this is directed to the other answerers, not you.

well don't blame the people receiving food stamps. blame our government for having this system. also if you want to stay away from the zoo try going shopping at the really expensive grocery stores & such, like in ohio we have giant eagle stores & heinens. alot of us (no i dont get food stamps or anything from our government even though my husband hasnt had steady work in a year) shop at stores like aldi and save a lot because we have to! and that's where alot of people on food stamps & fixed incomes go because we cant afford the overpriced brands.try going to the store first thing in the morning as soon as they open like 8 or 9 oclock.....much less congested then.

I agree that some are just too lazy to work but there are also those who had a good job, company was reorganized, job eliminated, so now, family of 4 with a mortgage, car payment, loses their house, car, has to pay the balance of the foreclosure and repo, can't afford day care so Mom can't work, Dad is working 2 full time min. wage jobs and they STILL can't make it. Hey and no health care assistance because Dad's income put them over the povery level.
They aren't all lazy, some REALLY want OFF the system.

I think ALOT of those citizens worked hard there ENTIRE life only to end up being forced to chose between Food, Medicines, and heat. If we didn't have this Influx of Illegals America might be able to do more to help OUR OWN POOR AND HUNGRY citizens. Illegals Simply believe they should be allowed to go right to the front of the line. This needs to STOP.

Um, its not 1st of month around here.

My cousin is on food stamps and buys when stuff is on sale and thats not usually 1st of the month anyway.

Too many go shopping immediately when they get their handout, not relizing they could spread it even further if they shopped smart.

My cousin usually doubles her value by shopping properly like normal people do.

Yes it because most of the jobs are taken. and we have a lot of Illegals living here that have kids that are on public assistance. and we have a lot of our men in the service that get paid once a month. We have the disable and the elderly. the retired. and the people that work and get paid once a month also teachers. Its not that we are lazy and wait for the check.

That's when some people get their checks as well. Social Security, Disability, and from working. Keep it up with the generalizations there. If it bugs you that much, do your shopping some other time.

I know...thats why I generalize. Man those PR'cans and Mex'ns are hording the stores on the first. Citizens...legal or not honey, look around it always windes up being the same crowd. And no...not racist...I do remember the white trash too.

adjust. if the money comes on the first, one should have planned ahead the last time so one could wait a week to do the shopping.
