It can last for months if you keep it in the freezer. I've done that and they tasted just fine.
I'm sure any brand will be fine.

Chocolate CAN last for years. For best quality, eat within a couple of months.
It depends on the fat content, for one (dark lasts longer than milk).
And if you see the white spots, don't worry. It's perfectly fine. That's called "bloom", and it just has to do with the changing in temperature, it's not mold or anything.
Oh, and if the chocolate has nuts, the nuts could go bad faster than the chocolate.
