My English Mastiff has been in heat and bleeding for exactly 4 weeks. It was my understanding that the bleeding was suppose to cease after 2-3 weeks. While it has seemingly slowed down on a few days, it then starts up again at a considerable rate, and after 4 weeks, it seems like it's never going to end. Could this be a potential medical/hormonal problem, or is this amount of time for a dog to bleed not completely out of the ordinary? Please do not answer with "get her fixed", that in no way is an answer to the question I am asking.

Thanks in advance for your time and help!

Usually a dogs heat lasts for roughly 3 weeks. I would see a vet soon, real soon.

For most dogs, a heat lasts somewhere between two to three weeks, every five months. If it lasts longer or it hasn't been five months before they come back, you need to see a vet.

4 weeks is a long time to be bleeding. I would take her to the vet to rule out a pyometra(infection in uterus, which can be VERY serious) or an aborted pregnancy

MY DOG LEAH, DID THIS--IF SHE DOES NOT STOP BLEEDING WITH IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS I WOULD CALL YOUR LOCAL VET AND TALK TO THEM ABOUT THIS... WE GOT OUR DOG FIXED AND DO YOU KNOW A MONTH AND A HALF LATER SHE WENT INTO HEAT AGAIN, WE HAD TO TAKE HER BACK IN AGAIN--SHE STILL HAS THIS PROBLEM BUT SHE CAN'T GET PREGNANT, SHE HAS A PIECE OF TISSUE SOMEWHERE IN HER BODY THAT IS RELEASING THE HORMONE SO WE HAVE TO GIVE HER MEDICINE EVERY 6 MONTHS OR SO TO STOP THIS. CRAZY STUFF!!!
IF YOUR DOG IS THROWING UP OR ACTING SLUGGISH I'D BE ON THE PHONE TOMORROW MORNING WITH YOUR VET.
