Maybe if Americas Hospitals STOPPED allowing these ILEGALS to simply walk right in POP out an ANCHOR baby and Leave the BILL behind. We wouldn't have this problem. ILLEGALS are Exploiting Americas Health care system. I believe it's time to Allow Hospitals to DENY treatment to ILLEGALS. I realize this sounds harsh but, Something MUST be done. Americas ER's are Clsoing as well as Hospitals due to this Abuse by ILLEGALS.

No, I don't think it SHOULD be acceptable. But the way the bureaucracy is set up, the normal, freedom-loving ways in which people can raise their children well have been so distorted and beset by intrusions of all kinds, most notably the public school system. So in an ideal world, a family would be as big or as small as it wanted to be, and the larger families would have healthy, productive ways to take advantage of the economies of scale, and the help children can be as they are growing up and learning how to be responsible adults.

But I disagree that there are very many people who really "make it someone else's problem." They may take advantage of a lot of government programs because they want to do as well for their kids as they can, but the bureaucrats generally make that unpleasant enough that people would much rather have better ways to take care of their families. Food co-ops and housing co-ops are very effective for people with limited resources; they take advantage of being able to buy wholesale, and in the case of housing, the economies of scale are incredible. You can make a nice home for two people in a three-bedroom house, but you can also make a nice home for six to eight people in a three-bedroom house. And large houses -- such as we would now call large, which were more common in the 1800s, are less expensive over-all than several smaller ones for the same number of people.

My point is that it's not acceptable as a set-up, but it is necessary to some degree in the modern world. Most people who use such social services would much rather be independent, of that I am confident.

i see what your saying, however the real problem is that our welfare system seriously needs reformed. for all the money sent out in welfare checks and food stamps i really think it would be ideal to make a five year goal for anyone on welfare and within that five years they must get a college education. easier said than done you say? not really, there are government grants, scholarships and student loans that are easy to get. it is not that difficult to work and go to school, i work, go to school and take care of three small children, yes it's a strain sometimes but in the long run it will be so worth it, and i know single mothers who do it, so right there they have me beat. and since these people are getting public assistance anyway, why not? the states can require that at the end of their five year deadline they will have graduated with at least an A.A. degree and the five year deadline allows for a bachelor's degree if they want one. their social worker could help them figure out what occupation would best suit them in the area they live in

Any given society has a total pool of wealth, which includes manpower, intellectual assets and Natural Resources. If those endowed with the ability to convert the intellectual assets into cash by the use of the means of production offered by the manpower and the natural resources behave responsibly, making fair payments for the contributions in lieu of what they use, there wont be any poor people to need Welfare.A small farmer who toils for four or more months to create the grains that make the bread we eat gets conned by market manipulators and doesn't get remunerative prices to repeat the farming and to meet the needs of his family, he will have to join the ranks of those begging for their food. All of us need to think why these people are on the welfare list, to begin with.To blame them as leeches sucking the blood of charity is to ignore the root cause of the problem. There is enough food in this world for every one's need and not enough for every one's greed.!. It is those who hoard the grains, after depriving fair prices to the producers, that create unnecessary shortage and poverty. When we learn the basic ethics of fair trade, we won't see any more "Welfare cases", save the very exceptional.
It is an important truth that those who face starvation and death are prompted by Mother Nature to procreate more in the hope that some of them may survive. If we stop fishing in a pond for a few seasons, the rate of eggs produced by the fish declines. It is the fear of starvation and death that increases the population. Take the example of the economically affluent countries. Their populations are declining drastically. csr

That's one of the problems of living in a civilized, modernized society. We are supposed to take care of those less fortunate than ourselves. Otherwise we would be tripping over homeless and sick people in the streets. Not the occasional bum or squeege-man we see now--- more like beggars and starving people everywhere (think Calcutta). Yes, there are a LOT of people that exploit this and I think they should all stop reproducing and get jobs but the reality is, there are going to be those who simply don't "get" how to take care of themselves and we would be so much worse off if we just tossed them into the streets. (That's why Clinton's welfare-to-work program was so awesome and why it is really a shame that Bush had to cut that out of the budget.)

It's not about ''acceptable.'' This is no longer about a judgment call; it's a reality. Simply, it ''is." Nothing less, nothing more. The cause and effect factor; who might that be, Tinman? Put your money where your mouth is. Is it in vogue to finally discover our government has been playing this game for years? Where were you, asleep; did you just wake up? I thought so, so have a lot of other people!

There are a couple of people that have answered this question that I wonder how long it will be until something happens to them and they then have to look at the government for help. Most people are only a paycheck or two from being evicted. Don't let you mouth over ride your ***.

if you cant or wont find a job
your either stupid, lazy or a little of both

thats a tough personality combo

chances are your gonna slack all your life and
have a PHD in blaming someone else for your problems

I really dont feel as though I should have to provide that type of person with all of the luxuries of modern life, through my hard earned tax dollars

Slacker types wait for victom roles
like someone waiting on the street corner for the bus

the minute they find something juicy
a physical ailment - a mental ailment whatever
they jump right on board
and sign up for that check

so to sum it up

its pure ignorance and laziness
and it not acceptable

Some types of welfare are good, especially when it comes to disabilities and veterans and things like that, but it is being abused, and the government is allowing it.

Are you talking in generalities or targeting a group?

Well either way..........here is my spin.

Some people are VERY able to support those they bring into the world and something horrible happens and puts them in a bad position. Then there are others who do the EXACT opposite. Then there are those who find a child a blessing NO MATTER the circumsance.

Do "I" find it acceptable? Probably not.........

We work to make HER life better. We work to make sure she doesn't have to work as hard as us. We wouldn't be able to do that with more. BUT..........I don't knock people who have more LIFE SKILLS then us and are able to accomplish OUR goals with more obstacles.
