By "nothing to do with boxing" do you mean not in a ring but on the street , at school or on the footy field. if you do I'll answer your question accordingly.
I used to get picked on when I first went to high school. It went on for about 3 years until I decided to go to a PCBC gym and learn to box. After Id been doing some boxing for about 12 months. A guy who used to bully me. tried it on again and I decided enough was enough and stood up to him. Turned out he was a guy who was like the person you described. Threw a lot but not necessarily accurate. All I did was avoid the first 5or 6, then used footwork to get around and in, getting my head down ( I took a shot to the left shoulder and one glancing to the top of the head). Then I just threw a right body shot to the floating rib. All over red rover. He didnt throw another punch, cause he was too busy trying to breathe and not pass out from the pain.
If you get in a fight like that OUT of the ring. One you absolutely can't talk yourself out of, then DO NOT WAIT for him to punch himself out. He could break your jaw at the very least with a lucky shot. However I would not go for the head because if you can box and deliver a well timed and powerful punch then bare knuckled you could kill him and that is manslaughter. A body shot hard and well delivered can be just as effective in finishing the fight and it is less likely to seriously hurt him.
Lets face it you dont want to kill or maim the guy you just want make sure the fight is over and you are safe
Now if you mean in the ring the thats a different matter. Keep your gloves up and your elbows in , but the principle of NOT WAITING still applies. If the opportunity presents itself to get inside the DO IT!!!! and give him the body shot from hell! Then if know how to, double up with an uppercut and then hit him with a shot from the other side. Keep throwing as many well timed, well aimed shots while you are there, try not to get wrapped up but use the opportunity to inflict as much hurt as possible before the ref breaks you up or he gets distance. If he steps straight back then throw the best straight hand you have.
I hope that helps mate good luck

I assume you're talking about in a boxing match--basically, just defend yourself until your opponent punches himself out. Unless he's on crank, or has Panama Lewis as a trainer, there's no way anyone can keep up that workrate for an entire fight. Use the same basic premise that Ali used against George Foreman in Zaire--Ali employed the "rope a dope" and let Big George tire himself out and then took the fight to him winning by KO. If you're talking about a street fight, I'd suggest taking the guy to the ground as quickly as possible. In that case, a lot depends on the situation, the size/strength of the attacker and your knowledge of self defense techniques. In any case, a guy who's flailing wildly is easier to deal with on the ground.

He will tire out quickly undoubtedly but if you pick your spot you will be able to pick him apart with a calculated jab or uppercut. Step back and play the matador. If its a street fight brush him aside and hit him back if you are a boxer keep your guard up and look for an oppening. If he's truely that wild he won't have a guard his offense is his only defense so it will be easy for you to counter. Watch a boxing match where Teddy Reid is fighting a quality opponent and you will see how they pick him apart despite his outlandish amount of punches. good luck

What you do is outlast him.Since he isn't in fighting shape, after 2 or 3 minutes he'll be punched out.Just stay on the defensive until you notice him slowing down, then go in for the kill.
Another thing to consider though.Do you really need to fight this person? If you hit him just right, you could kill him.Even if its self defense, that's way too much hassle.

The only thing i have to add is to never back straight up. Always circle Left if he is right handed. Rememeber most fights end with someone in head lock on the ground rolling around.
