I have a bi-black Sheltie. They look like little Lassies, but are a totally separate breed. They are herding dogs, so they are typically pretty energetic. They are highly intelligent (ranked number six on a top-ten national list), so they are easy to train. They are always willing to please their owners and thrive on praise. Shelties are very affectionate and for the most part, get very attached to one or two people, but are aloof with strangers. (That's why socialization at an early age is important.) They can be pretty vocal, so they make great guard dogs (although they'd never attack anyone because they're so gentle, they would definitely warn you of a stranger coming into your house.) A lot of people choose Shelties as their first family dog because they get along so well with other animals and children -- all in all, the perfect choice.

Pomeranian-Tiny but bold, inquisitive and lively, Pom is a brave and excellent watchdog. He/she is smart, intelligent, suspicious of other animals and strangers, very loyal and eager to learn. They are easy to train but need consistent training and can be properly socialized to live well with other pets and dogs in the family. They do not care for children much and must be trained early that they should bark less.

Siberian Husky, not to be mistaken for an Alaskan Malamute. Huskies and Malamutes are cousins, which is why they look similar.

If you want a pure bred dog, your best bet is go to www.akc.org
They have pictures and information on every pure blood, then you can make a decision. You need a dog that will adjust to your lifestyle, not a dog that someone else says is a good dog to own. Huskies are extremely active dogs. If you don't like to play with your animals, or go for walks, then a Husky IS NOT for you.

Hope I helped!
Have a wonderful day!

Now, they are not the easiest to train, but as far as loyalty, friendliness... and also a good protector (mine actually patrols the house at night!) The American Stafford-shire Bull Terrier (more commonly known as the pit bull) is an awesome dog. I know, I know, they've a bad reputation, but it is all in how you treat them... love them and they are just big puddles of love. Of course, I'm biased... this is *my* first dog.

The best dog is one that gets the love , attention, and medical attention that they deserve. To me they are all best dogs no matter what kind , size, or breed. Just remember whatever kind you pick just remember " Dogs aren't the whole world, but they sure make your world whole".

You need to research for yourself.First where do you live?A apt. or house ,how big is it?How much time do you have to spend with the pet?Larger pets need more room, need more exercise.
Maybe you should consider a puppy rescue center they could help you prepare for the homecoming and tell you whats best for you and your new pet.Good luck pets are the best ,when their needs are met too.
