my 4 year old watches about 2 hours a day. My one year old will watch about 20 min. before getting bored. That is pretty much my limit for TV.

Too much. Probably 6 hours a day. But my kids are playing and doing other things - it is a background noise thing most of the time. I know it is too much. However, we do have that new Baby First channel, which is very educational. They almost always have that on. My twins are almost 3 years old.
PS - My daugter ALSO speaks 2 languages, knows numbers to 20 in 2 languages and can name about 20 colors. My son is similarly talented. Just because kids watch a lot of TV doesn't mean they're DUMB!!!!!!! People who think their kids are just the smartest kids really TICK ME OFF. All kids have different abilities and limitations. Give me a BREAK!

My 3 yr. old gets about an hour in the morning and an hour or two in the afternoon. I see nothing wrong with television watching. My pediatrician will talk until he is blue in the face about how terrible it is. We've been told that the kids should have no more than 30 minutes a day!! I'm sorry but that is just stupid.
We home school. My kids are active in sports. They play outside. They are both very advanced for their ages. If they want some down time to watch cartoons then they can have it. Right now they are upstairs, working together, and setting up a train set they have. It is nice out so they'll probably play outside. But later when they want to watch tv, they can.

I have a 3 year old daughter. She has her tv on when we are at home (Treehouse). I know that's bad but she doesn't watch it all day long. She colours, plays dress up, tea party...and little 3 year old normal plays. it's just backround noise. Unless her favourite shows are on she will stop and watch it for the 1/2 hour it's on. I must say to that she has learned a lot from those shows. Different songs and about animals, counting and different other things. We do do other stuff with her of course but especially on Saturdays when it's clean the house day, it's a great babysitter and most of those shows are educational as well and they are targeted for around that age group. She loves it!!

I don't have kids, but I read in a parenting magazine (at the doctor's) that television watching habits are established in the early years (0-4) so if your kids watch a lot of television when they are little, they will grow up to be couch potatoes, saying that though, i do realize that it is easy to set your kids up with the tv when you're trying to fix dinner or pop in a video for a little "quiet time" I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

I try to only let her watch a few shows in the morning, anywhere from an hr to an hr and half. But sometimes on those days I don't feel like being a mommy, I let her watch it as much as she likes and she normally keeps it on!!! When my husbands home the tv has to be on, normally cartoons though.

The tv is on all day, it's just a habit I got into when my husband was working nights. Although it's on all day she probably only watches about two hours. The rest of time she is draws, colors and plays some imaginary games she makes up.

At 3 years old he doesn't watch TV so he thinks Dora and Baby Brainy are the TV shows of choice. Maybe in the morning he watches a kid show but not over 1/2 hour.
We keep him busy playing outside, helping us with fun things like going to the park and he loves to come to work with us and color
when I saw your question I was amazed that he didn't watch much.
At preschool the kids are into Batman and Superman he's playing with them not knowing who these guys are, just names to him.
He is 3 can speak two languages rides a bike with us and knows how to count and write his name .
No time for TV I can't be live I said that Thank you it made my day to think he a smart kid I just thought he just a kid and THAT IS WHAT HE IS.

My 15 month old daughter watches 1 hour of sesame street in the mornings. (before that I watch 1 hour of news but she's in and out of the living room)
She always watches Jeapordy (30 min) and Wheel of Fortune (30 min).
The rest of the time she's either outside playing, in her room 'reading' a book, or I'm reading and singing to her. Climbing on pillows....etc..
